I know what you mean. There is a smugness about the vocals that does annoy. The faux-slacker whining which does seemed somewhat contrived. But I still love the track. Can't listen to anything else that Why have done though.Infinite E wrote:ryetronics wrote:I would love to get my hands on that track sans vocals.john fonda wrote:wonder how they got that synth/brass sound on the why? remix

+1.
the track is gorgeous but i cant stand why?s whining over the top
harsh?
(ive given it many chances to grow, sink in whatever. it still reminds me of the godawful, wannabe-deep misogyny that artschool wankers have been postering about the west end of glasgow of late)
New Boc album around october ?

Just today I finally tracked down the original version of Good Friday and it's horrid. It really shows how creative BoC are by basically creating an amazing track and slapping the vocals on top of it.Mexicola wrote:I know what you mean. I love Why?..they take some time to appreciate. But they grow on you....
I still love the remix more than the actual song..I wouldn't call the original horrible though.
The preparation for a dive is always a tense time.

I like the original, but -love- the remix. Vox intact.
I'll see you when the sun sets east, don't forget me.

The original version of that song was horrible; the remix turned it into a great song. That was the first of Boards of Canada's work that I ever heard. I was so impressed that I went and bought "Trans Canada Highway" (only Boards of Canada I could find at a store) and ordered the rest of their albums on Amazonmechanismj wrote:Hell yeah. That Beck remix is definitely a favorite of mine. Haven't heard it in a long time so I'm putting it on now!

I doubt that spoils anything for anyone. I'd already assumed it was sampled horn anyway.Mannex wrote:I hate to spoil it for you but they just sampled a trombone and threw a bunch of reverb on it. Not so sure about Kiteracer 2 though.
