My favorite Jack Handey moment...
"When you're ten years old, and a car drives by and splashes a puddle of water all over you, it's hard to decide if you should go to school like that or try to go home and change and probably be late. So while he was trying to decide, I drove by and splashed him again."

Ha that's good. Although Carlos Castaneda quotes Don Juan as saying "only a fool carries things in his hands". I like that one.thedisavowed wrote:To me, it's a good idea to always carry two sacks of something when you walk around. That way, if anybody says, "Hey, can you give me a hand?", you can say, "Sorry, got these sacks."
- Jack Handy
I also like "Beer is God's way of showing us that he loves us and wants us to be happy" which was kindly provided by Benjamin Franklin, 6th POTUS.

Excellent quote. I'm using that somewhere, someday.Guido wrote:Limited in his nature, infinite in his desires, man is a fallen god who remembers the heavens.
By Alphonse de Lamartine.
Also--Observation, I've been meaning to pick up some Carlos Castenada. Any recommendations?

And not really a quote but the name of a film:
The Invention Of Destruction

I don't know why, but it touched me and I've been thinking regularly about it ever since I read it.

A while ago i've read a book called Children of God by Mary Doria Russell. Very impressive story and nice quotations. Found some of them here http://cigarettesandcigars.com/quotes/c ... f_god.html
Has anyone read that book?

Guido wrote:We have been metamorphosised from a mad body dancing on hillsides to a pair of eyes staring in the dark.
both totally awesome quotes, very poetic on jim morrison's part. albert camus rocks. i take a lot of flack from people for being such a big fan of existentialists, it's seen as a philosophical cop-out by most people. but i love 'em.Skytree wrote:"Truly fertile Music, the only kind that will move us, that we shall truly appreciate, will be a Music conducive to Dream, which banishes all reason and analysis. One must not wish first to understand and then to feel. Art does not tolerate Reason."
