Yeah, I like this.... but like Bibio, I just don't get what everyone sees in it that makes it God's Own Music. Seems like a talented musical guy... making music that is nice.... but I honestly wouldn't pay for an album of this music. It doesn't stick. It doesn't tug my heartstrings. I can't get lost in it either. It's just... "yeah, this is good. this is good music. moving on." Oh well.

Are you waiting for someone to explain what's good about it? Could you be convinced via words? If you don't feel it, you don't feel it. Maybe you will, maybe you won't. But there are people here who don't get your summaries either : )

Point taken, I'm just wondering if there's any elements in particular that have caused so many people on the previous page to reach such an enthusiastic consensus about how this music is "above" so many other types - "not just ambient" or what have you - to use the words you used, i don't see what is so complex about it that one must be evolved mentally to 'get' it.

I'm sure there are but I'm not sure exactly what you mean by that... not trying to antagonize, just communicate..

if you listen to "snake in a bag" to use one example the following contrasts come to pass:
glad and sorry
wonderment and realization
knowingness and mystery
minimal music or films allow you to dream and visualize more easily, it gives you the freedom to personalize, do you really want all the parts of the puzzle?
I'm with you turquoise. I love em all, but bibio the least. It gets a little monotonous to sit through a whole album of his stuff. Great composition, but stagnant to me at times. I guess he just has such a defined 'sound' that it gets stale to me...but hey- if that sound is your cup o tea then i see why you'd adore it so.
Loafe and Merge though- I can get into that a lot more. Less folky, more funky. His work as letherette is better to me though, cause the beats are sick and Loafe and Merge seems pretty 'all-out ambient', which is listed as a turn off on my e-harmony profile. (<--just playing. Def don't have one haha)
i dunno i'm not gonna belabor the point anymore, i just thought i'd express my thoughts since i suddenly noticed such a wide discord between how a lot of people on this board feel about Artist Valley stuff and how it strikes me. i don't think you have to be evolved or intelligent or whatever to dig on it, but i do think it either hits you right or hits you wrong, and to me it just kind of all falls flat and boring and has no heart to it. that's just a subjective judgment and i'm no more trying to argue everyone else to agree with it than yall are trying to argue me to feel the way you do about it. i'm totally sorry if i said anything unkind to the artists, i respect what they do, but it just doesn't catch me in the way that makes me want to go "Hell yeah this guy is the shit oh my god" like I do for much other music
EDIT: word phasen i almost forgot to mention that, letherette is totally awesome, i'm downtown with that shit!! that is a sweet counter example.

i think sometimes people judge music too much, waiting to get impressed, rather than just let it flow.
some music can be very impressive and all, but not everything is like that. i wasn't impressed by MHTRTC when i heard it, but a few months later it was back in my head. it just took more time.
i like loafe and merge a lot. it may sound simple, but it takes me somewhere when i listen to it.
