Do they take into account we have heard all the leaked old tunes albums? I do hope they do, else they could just give us a track from one of the old tunes cassettes, because basically those should be unheard as they should've never leaked in the first place.

And also, it must be other tracks because frankly the quality of those leaked tunes are really subpar. The track(s) they will release will be of pristine/remastered quality to meet up with the standards of the rest in the box set. So anyways it will be good wether it will be a complete new track or a remastered proper sound quality of a familiar leaked track.

Lucky you! :D Sadly I've got a mortgage and a wedding to pay for!!
Joebot Kill wrote:besides, do you seriously think theyd put all this effort into this if it was gonna be fucking "old tunes" tracks? fuck no, this is going to be worth it. come on guys, warp knows whats leaked and what hasnt. they know what we've heard and what we havent.

Hope you're right, and tbh, I suspect you ARE right. But I can't justify blowing £85 on what is possibly 3 or 4 BOC tracks I might already have. I know it's alot more than the BOC tracks involved, but frankly, the rest of the Warp label holds little interest for me.

Seriously man, I genuinely hope it's what you're hoping for! :D

i really cant see them releasing just a few 'old tunes' song for this set, way too big for that.

for some reason i get the feeling these unreleased tracks are gonna along the vein of lighthouse track 3 and those ATP tracks that were never officially released. atleast i hope theyre like those songs...

BoC have made thousands of tracks over the years, I think its pretty unlikely that they'll go back to Old Tunes (music they didn't initially even want the public to hear anyway) and lazily grab a few tracks. Fredd E's right, this is going to be an "amazing package of epicness" and I think BoC will deliver with something supportive of that.

However, we have seen slightly disappointing decisions made lately that contradict BoCs signature of quality and aesthetic control which they sustained so beautifully from the 90s up until the Tch ep (think frontpage myspace ads, nuclear banner, miami vice, solange etc etc), so I wouldn't be suprised if they slightly disappointed on this one. Maybe theyve just been playing a joke on us the last 4 years.. :?:

As much as i would LOOOVVEEEEE!!!! to have a copy of this, dont any of you think that this is a bit of a scam from Warp? As in, order yours before 5th july to get your copy in September! Where as i can see them releasing this brilliant Warpbox20 thing in full on cd then too.
They know there are a lot of fans of Warp and people (including myself) falling over themselves to get a copy before the 5th so they can make a BANG load of cash now. This will be in the shops for sure in September.
I for one will wait untill september and get myself the cd version, even though i want the vinyl to no end.

Its too much of my hard earned cash, in these very very shitty hard times, for a 'couple' of new/old boc and other artist's tracks and some fancy packaging made on a pc/mac in my mind.

Sure thats only my opinion.

On another note, i bet boc will release a new album after this is released.

It doesnt sound like it will though. Sounds like they're making one for everyone that orders it.
Judging by their wording, I think that's how it is, make them to-order with a few scant extras.

I get paid for 2 weeks worth of work tomorrow. I've decided to order a box sometime soon after then. This is a once-in-a-long-while opportunity.

i hope it is too... haha. but trust me, i'm in no enviable position. I just graduated college with a degree in illustration. who knows how much good that will do me. :? i have NO money whatsoever right now. none. but i start shitty part time job next week, delivering pizzas. oh yeah, and i have to keep paying car insurance plus the newly added health insurance and a fuck-load of college loans. all starting in july! (perfect timing, eh?) while there's no mortgage or wedding tacked on to that, i definitely dont have money to be throwing around. but to me, its worth it for art, and i will find a way to get this. even if it means selling my japanese, super famicom editions of final fantasy 4, 5 and chrono trigger...

Eh, I'll wait. I'm paranoid about it being some alternate versions of already existing tracks, which honestly would kinda let me down. Sorda like the BoC peel session or something. The design of the packaging looks real sharp though but I ain't pulling the trigger until I know what comes with it.

Well, I hope this is not the bocset we are waiting for. 3 x 10" vinyl with tracks from more than 4 artists may or not give us less than 8 boc songs.

Pretty low for a whole bocset - but great enough after 3 years of silence.

good point. there was a report of one of the live-only tracks being played at a warp night shortly afterwards, suggesting Warp may studio (or at least soundboard) records of some of them.

yeah, that's my worry too, hopefully a 'full' bocset is still in the works.

Even though the tracklist looks great, and I would die to get it... I don't have that kind of money and I won't have ANY for quite a while, so this whole thing is just a real slap in the face to people on low income. *laughs* they really need to release this on Bleep.

Ordered myself a copy! It's a lot of money but it is a special package which costs a lot to produce.

If Warp did this to make a BANG of cash, they certainly wouldn't create such a huge designed package. Seriously, the net profit of this package is much lower than a CD box.

Mailed Warp about the nature of the BoC tracks, we will soon enough know, or not.

I've mailed them too, as of about 3 hours ago. Hopefully one of us gets a reply...

Don't worry. I just re-read the Statements from Hexagon Sun again and he makes perfectly clear (in various posts) that the first priority is the new regular album and afterwards there is the chance of the boc box set.

And frankly, it will be (read: is supposed to be) a BOC set. About Boards of Canada only. Not about 95% Warp artists and 5% BoC. It will be dedicated and after reading those posts again, I'm thrilled even more for that to happen in the future.

Some relevant keywords from the statements page:
  • new packaging and art
  • released sometime after the forthcoming record
  • decent exclusive artwork & more rarities
  • box set of early material is looking 99% likely to happen
  • big archive to get through
  • if you can be patient, these tracks will come out,
  • a whole lot you won't have heard yet
  • there's a new album coming out first, and maybe more.
  • Warp are very keen to do it
  • an ongoing process in the background for a while.
PS: I ordered the set! :)
