Does anybody have a good recording of ATP ?

Post by billholding »

I have got a recording of the All Tomorrows Parties BOC set, but the recording levels are crap, and the bass distorts. Is this what all the recordings are like, or can somebody help me out by uploading a better quality version for me? Any help would be really appreciated...

Cheers

I'm new to this board, so I hope nobody minds me resurrecting an old thread.

I recorded two tracks at ATP. "Julie and Candy" and what is referred to as "Track Six". I was further back than the guy who did the recording that has been doing the rounds, just to the left of the sounddesk, and the sound is pretty good.

These two tracks are all that I recorded unfortunately. I encoded them from MiniDisc to 160kbps MP3s back in 2001. I can't find the MD, so I can't rip them at a higher bitrate for the moment.

If nobody objects, I'm happy to post these for download.

Thanks. I've upped them to Rapidshare below. They're not perfect, but to my ears they're a bit better than the existing full show recording.

It was a tiny Stereo Electret mic borrowed from a mate. I'd brought a bigger Sony minidisc mic along to that ATP but it was a little obvious and his smaller microphone was easier to hide. I think it was an Aiwa mic that came with his MD recorder (something like this one - http://www.minidisc.org/images/aiwa_amf90.jpg).

I was too far back to see anything but the occasional bobbing head onstage. Though I really didn't feel disappointed. I kinda feel that, if they'd interacted, it might have even broken the unique spell that there was around BoC at that time.

Thanks for joining our forum and contributing with such a great thing! /cheers for adding it to the bocpages too.

I really love this song. It's so dark and the vocoded vocals are great. And to have it in even better quality is superb! 8) If only we had a proper name for this track.... and if only this would see a proper remastered version in the future in a box set. Say yeah for wishful thinking?!
