Keep meaning to reply to this one but my favourites are moving targets. Last week I listened to 5-9-78 until my ears bled, today I've had Basefree on repeat since the alarm went off. But there are always core tracks..

her sister made an album and claimed to have BoC "produce" a song for her
but in reality she just took the song as is and sang (out of key) over it

though i can still be considered a BoC newbie, there is one track in particular that does something and has done something with my deepest inner self over the several years i've listened to it (which is probably daily).. and that is Treeline.

I'll try to explain what it does with me:
Whenever i listen to it (esp with my eyes closed) im overtaken (overtook? i wasnt sure) by feeling how it is somehow telling the story of my childhood. Well, no, not the story, because it is not so much about words or actual events... Not even actual people. The emotions of my childhood perhaps? The wordless thoughts i had in my childlike considering of that immense reality out there? I wish i knew..
And along with it comes a remotely sad feeling, as if the song is a quiet, solemn, almost reverential recollection of something i still had when i was a young girl, but have lost now and it feels like it is a thing once you've lost it, you cannot regain it.
It is kind of like the melody gives a musical expression of a lost but precious memory, just beyond your grasp.. It is very hard to explain, since it's all wordless feeling i try to harshly push into the tight straitjacket of words..

Over the years i have found that no matter how many times i listen to it, it never ceases to move me in this powerful way. (yes, very powerful, as vague as this all might sound)

Clearly there are other BoC songs i can consider my favourite, but because i still haven't heard all of their songs, i'll postpone making a top ten to the near future

powerline misfortune is a nostlagic tune for sure and also really creepy this is pre geogaddi sweetness
