I don't know about "fucking shit".....

I have to say I wasn't expecting that transition at all, but.... I think it works. My favorite videos are videos like "Second Bad Vibel" and "Rabbit in Your Headlights" so maybe I just tend to like darker videos.. but Dayvan is not dark at all.... so I think it fits well.

Surfing looks like a lot of fun, imo.

maybe after he fell into the ocean, he could have wash up to the beach and met someone (say a girl) then they made sweet love by a fire buck naked in slow motion. but i liked the ocean shots a lot with the surfer, im just not that big into surfing.

On August 16, 1960, Kittinger jumped his last Excelsior jump, doing so from an air-thin height of 102,800 feet (31,334 meters). From that nearly 20 miles altitude, his tumble toward terra firma took some 4 minutes and 36 seconds. Exceeding the speed of sound during the fall, Kittinger used a small stabilizing chute before a larger, main parachute opened in the denser atmosphere. He safely touched down in barren New Mexico desert, 13 minutes 45 seconds after he vaulted into the void.

The jump set records that still stand today, among them, the highest parachute jump, the longest freefall, and the fastest speed ever attained by a human through the atmosphere. Somewhat in contention is Kittinger's use of the small parachute for stabilization during his record-setting fall. Roger Eugene Andreyev, a Russian, is touted as holding the world's free fall record of 80,325 feet (24,483 meters), made on November 1, 1962.

if you are talking about kittingter...yeah... i have seen a documentary about it years ago...i think the images that are shown in the dayvan video are ones that everyone can relate back to by memory...very nostalgic...crazy!!! BoC being nostalgic...crazy!!!!

It depends on how one defines the term music video. To me, this video is nothing more then a visual representation of what the track in feeling is about, in a very straight-forward and in my opinion basic approach. The visuals may suit the feeling of the track very well, but it stops there.
And here is the problem for me, I can get the exact same feeling by just listening to the track, without those visuals. It adds nothing narrative-wise for example, lifts me up or brings me down simply said, it's communicating a feeling that the track allready has. It just displays.

Maybe One should approach it as a promo, like it was officially announced?, an imagesequence that resembles the emotional direction of the music from the campfire headphase / Trans canada highway, with dayvan cowboy as chosen theme track and editted on. IF so, then its a good job.

Yeah if you look at it that way then it makes complete sence. Promo video for the ep. I do like the whole surfer idea in there. Really did not see that coming in the vid i guess. As the name of the track (as i have always thought) has a beach bum ring to it and the vid starts in space...

I don't know what to say......I liked it, I liked it alot. I wonder why some of you have negative comments. We are talking about BOC here. I think it says alot about BOC. What's the problem with the surfing?? I think some of you are being closed minded there. Surfing is completely in tune with nature, sure the boards may be man made, but you are using the power of nature. I surf and it's too bad I can't really come up with the words to help you understand that it is like nothing else in the world. Did you guys want cheezy cgi stuff? I can't see BOC being about flashy, slick, mtv style videos and thank the heavens for that. I could see, with the huge expectations we had, that it might not have lived up to the hype. I just wonder if some of you are so used to over the top grandoise, slick bullshit that you are somewhat disensitized to art if it doesn't come in it's nice little package. Perhaps some of you missed the point. Too hippyish?? Perhaps some laserbeams and explosions would have made it all right??
