"when you were young", when was this? and she didn't recognize boc's music later?dealer wrote:my ex-girlfriend is related to the band and played me the tapes when we were young. I forgot about it until years and years later when she asked me what I was listening to and I told her BoC and she reminded me. she's lucky and helped the guys load in during the ATP show and everything.

when we were young would mean around 1993ish. actually 1992ish. I was class of 1994 and this was my sophomore year.Moebius wrote:"when you were young", when was this? and she didn't recognize boc's music later?dealer wrote:my ex-girlfriend is related to the band and played me the tapes when we were young. I was the one that didn't remember many years later when I got into them that it was what she'd played for me. she knew what they were up to all along, obviously.
when she understood how much I liked them later, she made cassette copies of her old tapes and photocopied the covers and all. this was just about a year and a half ago.

Get outta town!
So... What's on these tapes? Is this stuff we've heard of?
Obviously we're going to ask for uploads of this stuff so you can abuse the trust your friends put in you.
Plus a load of peeps will say you're faking it and demand a live television broadcast from Mike and Marcus announcing you're the real deal before they believe what you're telling us.
Oh, and you win this thread btw. Well done.
Yay, you my friend have heard the tapes? That's probably like most of this forum-member's wet dream!dealer wrote:my ex-girlfriend is related to the band and played me the tapes when we were young. I got into them on my own thru my sister's boyfriend, who knew I was a big Autechre fan and thought I'd like them.

Fascinating, like the rest I'd love to know what those tapes were/are. When you say she was related, you mean by blood/marriage, or she was part of Hexagon Sun, or a general friend?dealer wrote:when we were young would mean around 1993ish. actually 1992ish. But for now I'm not really buying it... this dealer person has this information for over a year now and never ever even shared something with us despite being a member of this board for several years. One of dealer his posts dates back to 2005.
Not even the slightest bit of substantial material of what has been given to him has been shared with any of us. And I perfectly understand him perhaps not being allowed to share any info at all, but then why does he spoil the beans in his posts? That's unnecessary teasing imho from a for now unverified source of info.
Until proven otherwise I remain skeptical.

one thing that does irk me about frequenting twoism is that when i was in college, i took a senior seminar on epistemology and then another senior seminar on david hume, who had a lot to say about the subject himself.
so i think i'm turned off, for life, to conversations about the validity of claims and skepticism. my answer is now forever a thunderous WHOOOO CAAAAARES.

yes, I was pretty shocked when she reminded me that BoC were her relatives. they're blood relatives and she's actually in the geogaddi sleeve, as well as her brother. those are all family pictures. pretty cool, I think.
anyway, small world. I ask her from time to time what the guys are up to and she mostly has the scoop on the more family-related stuff more than the new album stuff, understandably.
the tapes she's made me copies of are stuff that has all leaked. if any of it hadn't, there's no way I'd betray her and leak it myself.
I'm not really keen on trying to convince anyone here, but if you look, I've mentioned this before.

Wow, welcome back!! I was just re-reading the topic to see how my English and writings skills were back then and noticed your post. What decided you to return to Twoism?dealer wrote:my ex-girlfriend is related to the band and played me the tapes when we were young. On Fri Dec 02, 2005, dealer wrote:I first heard them when a girl I knew very well told me some of her relatives made music. she had the family only casette releases. I don't remember the year but it was around 93 or 94. I liked them but wasn't into too much electronic music at the time. I got into them a while later, having totally forgotten that she was a relative. I'm still close to her and once she asked me what I had been listening to lately and I mentioned that I was completely obsessed with the Boards of Canada. she gave me a funny look and reminded me that they were family. funny day. I remember looking at her original family-only cassettes.
