I have no problem with surfing at all. But the shots seemed so cheesy and out of place to me. Like the footage you see on the TV sets in a japanese Karoke box (if you know what im talking about). Not only this but some of the clips are stock, if not all of them. BOC loose major points for originality right there. For people who spend so much time on minute detail and originality to use stock footage of surfers and dolphins? To me thats a let down. If the clips were edited in a way that showed some form of originality I would have been some what satisfied. To me this is just piss poor. The videos I have seen on this board are better in my opinion.

I agree that the over all idea of the video was good, although it could have been better if they added the the "psychedelic trip" Kittinger experienced. But the whole thing just wasnt executed well. It doesnt feel like one solid congruent piece to me. Alot of the clips were from various sources and the colours did not match (not in a good way). You know when you are watching a sit com or any show and they say they are headed to Africa and all of a sudden they show some clip of tiger growling, but it is really obvious that it was just taken from some public domain reel, as the colours and film type differ from the actual show. Thats what this video felt like to me. It feels more like somebody took random clips and edited them together on a Mac. Ofcourse it was probably made on a Mac but good videos dont leave me feeling that way. This was no more than a bunch of clips layed over a BOC song.

I thought the concept of giving a soundtrack to a human freefall from outer-space was pretty fantastic. I agree the thematic shift to surfing is a bit jarring. I would've preferred that they stick to one or the other instead of trying to make a video that encompasses multiple facets of the 'Xtreme Outdoor Adventure' theme they seemed to be aiming for...

It could've been better, sorry BoC

... But it's still better than most music videos...

yeah i'm not sure what she was going for overall, perhaps it was just the emotions those images could conjure. I personally think it was the notion of freedom inside this larger thing, a vast powerful thing. From it's cold outer limits to it's enveloping warmth and beauty. It seems Kittenger was somewhere he shouldn't have been and the images of Laird and the dolphins showing exactly were they ought to be. Were life is alien and where life florishes.

Very fitting. Yeah, it wasn't totally what I was expecting, but I thought it went well with the track quite nicely.

I loved it : ) .. wasn't really expecting anything so I enjoyed it a lot. i think it was just simple and nostalgic to focus on the music more.

maybe falling through hell means realising that being free in the air like that you know it will end soon and come back to crappy gravity and stuff. *falls over* you know what i mean

..it makes me want to cry tears of joy. take me now boc!

well have watched it with my dad and my daughter now and both liked it a lot, my dad loves the moment when he drops into the water from his parachute, and kitty thinks the surfing scenes are amazing.

And im starting to like it more the more I watch it, but then i love the song so maybe that has more to do with it. Looking forward to seeing it in good quality though

I have to say it really does bear repeated viewing and it also makes me appreciate the song alot more too. Simplicity is always good and this video is deceptively simple.

i like it although i liked part a (the jump) more than the surfing-bit. the footage on the other hand is top notch! suits the music very well.

I really like it. The first part was pretty much what i was expecting - stunning old footage, the breaking through the clouds etc., though the surfers were a surprise. I think it was quite brave to use the surfer footage. You usually see that kind of thing with horrible nu-metal as the soundtrack so having dayvan as the music made me realise how graceful and beautiful it can look. I think the whole thing really suits the track and much of it was totally unexpected which is what i find so great about BOC in the first place.

Those of you looking for more psychadelic videos and crazy animation, I can't stress how good the Marino DVD from Caribou is. 16 videos and it also comes with a nice 4 track ep of all new material. I started a topic about it after I bought it some time ago, but no one responded.

You know, after reading a lot of the responses I think I understand some of the misunderstanding with the video. I think a lot of us (myself included) really love BoC's Geogaddi mystique, and consequently maybe we just weren't prepared for how terrestrial BoC's interpretation of Campfire apparently is.

Or maybe that's total bullcrap. Just a thought -

Awesome images...so close to my view of the world it's almost frightening. I really love this video, it fits the feel of the album perfectly.
