Your MAN caves, and your MAN cave ideas.

Post by Waterbagel »

Gentlemen.

ITT: We shall post pictures of our man caves.

ALSO ITT: We shall give suggestions on how to improve one's man cave, such as things to buy, things to CREATE (because who doesn't love a home-made mini-fridge?), and ways to make these safe havens (but not TOO safe, right?) for men MANLIER and AWESOMER than any woman could possibly imagine.

(By the way, ITT means In This Thread)

I'll start on some suggestions:

1 (and 2).At least two televisions. Doesn't matter if they're hi-tech plasmas or whatever. Just two televisions.
3. Video games
4. Awesome sound systems (for BoC playing late into the night, of course)
5. Some form of a dead animal that you righteously conquered and then had stuffed.
6. Books (a TRUE proud-owner of a man cave is well-read)

I looked at this thread and tried to figure out what a man cave was. closest i could guess was a bum crack?

as for my bedroom, i have a girlfriend in it.

i live in my parents basement. i have not been touched affectionately by a woman in 6 years.

there is nothing manly about this. i am an asexual mold colony on the jock strap of suburban america.

This was april 2008.

It's a bloody mess now. More records, 3 open computers, record player, cd player, amplifier, tape deck, too many empty beercans, coffee mugs, two couches.

I live in a house and watch the Red Green show all the time, so this is exciting! These suggestions have been tested.

#1 Tear our all supporting walls and install an array of stout beams and stems to displace force. Basically there are too many damn walls in many homes and apartments, and this will open up the entire floor for indoor hockey and large pet birds. Where privacy is lost, good feeling community is gained.

#2 Always have large growlers of fresh homebrew on hand, and fill the fridge with Flemish wonders, so you may have a refreshing beer treat at any hour. Beer runs are for college kids. Buy in bulk!

#3 Patch cords! All kinds! Seperate from fishing tackle by 50'.

#4 Utility closets > utility drawers

Guido! Nice media collection!

I thought this would be about garages, cars in said garages, tools, and other handy-man equipment.

Change the title to nerd-cave.

edit: good stereo systems can be manly though, and I guess giant TVs to watch sports on as well.

look, i know my above post seems pretty snarky... but i hate this whole thing of 'comedically' repackaging reactionary, old-fashioned gender stuff... because the irony's only skin deep, it's ultimately the same old crap. it's really fake and damaging and it creeps me out.

I understand where you're coming from man, but at the same time i don't think a 'man cave' is necessarily an instrument of injustice or oppression... my dad has a library/den he disappears into every day after work, it's full of leather and old books and dark wood. "man cave" probably describes this environment better than anything else. but it's not like it's tearing our family apart or causing heartache, he's just a loner. i do the exact same thing with my bedroom. anyway, just trying to offer another viewpoint on it.

A pretty good definition of "man cave" that can be for this topic: "A room in a man's place of living in which said man can take refuge to relax."
or something.
ehh, wherever you keep your computer, music, tv's, awesome stuff.

keep it in good humor and fun, guys.

1. A good chair, not for activity/computer/anything, just for lounge. (and masturbari....aH, jk!)
2. instruments, something easy to jam on spontaneously during boring dull moments such as commercials and wedding and/or bank talks
3. a "in case of emergency break to open box"
this box can have anything in it, but usually some good herb or good food is stored in it (or both!)

too be conttoned!

I think we must recall the teachings of Jesus here. Something about category 5 cable.
