Post by Shadowshocker »

My friend just recommended me this musician the other day, and I just got around to checking him out. Amazing Music! He uses samples from old movies and puts them together to makes his music. Check him out on last.fm:

Forgot to mention he makes a lot of videos for his music, using clips from the movies!

The one from Mary Poppins is far and away my favorite. The music is simply uplifting -

I gave him a listen a few months ago. Initially the songs are fun and the guy is quite talented, but I find that there is little replay value to most of these tracks.

agreed. well for most of them, mainly the ones that have more "longer samples". the short cut up phrases work well though

I'm really liking the newest one based on the movie 'Up' -

If you listen close the percussion work is very detailed and pulls it all together for me.

that was great, i think it may be my new favorite by him
i really gotta see that movie Up sometime soon

i love how most of his melody work is vocal samples, but he chops them up in a way that it's almost lyrical and quite catchy, yet at the same time there's no actual words

The samples are mixed so very well with all of his stuff, I love it. All of his stuff seems to be really nice to listen to, but I do agree the little replay value from them, with the exception of a few songs (like Alice).

The plot thickens - looks like the industry has forced Pogo to take down (or at least set to private) 'Alice' and a few others -

It's a pity some of his work isn't online (or visible to everyone). On the other hand, it's great for him to get this acknowledgement from disney, it may even open a lot of other roads for him. The reasoning for taking down some stuff seems to be fair imo.....

Awesome 8) He seems like a really cool guy, to produce something like this. That vid footage seems really professional too.

Here's something Cupz just showed me that's kinda like Pogo's stuff

Okay maybe only kinda like it

This guy is great. I've been following his stuff for a long time now. The Terminator 2 one is brilliant. However, my favorite has to be Expialidocious.

That's great, I loved it! Not quite like Pogo, but I agree it's pretty similar. Good stuff!

Oh awesome, there's a Pogo topic :)

Have you guys heard his most recent stuff? He's doing a kickstarter for a trip around the world, making music out of samples he records in various places....it's pretty cool.
