I eat meat but I keep it healthy. I was vegetarian for a year+ but gave it up because it was just a pain honestly. But if I can find a good vegetarian/vegan option on a menu I'll gladly go for it.

2) here's a good piece of advice in general, and one that i have to tell myself often - stop getting into the mindset that the world around you is filled with a constant, invisible battle for which there are opposing sides that need to be defended with words and actions. it's not true. you don't have to assert your meat-ness or your veggie-ness over anyone. there is no need to presume you are taking part in yet another segment of some long, extended fight between meat eaters and vegetarians - or religious and non-religious people, or blacks and whites. honestly. there is no battle. i know people who hear some piece of news and go "THE LIBERALS ARE AT IT AGAIN". they're not at anything. i think this is a problem people have with separating off distinct events or incidents of their lives and accepting that small incidents are not necessarily part of some hidden, greater story/scheme/conspiracy that is constantly going on in the background. if you and i are sitting down to eat and i say "i'm a vegetarian", i am not speaking on behalf of all the pushy, touchy, arrogant vegetarians you may have met in the past few days. i'm speaking on behalf of just myself, right now, irrespective of everything and everyone else. seriously.

I was beginning to think other people who thought like that didn't exist or were wallowing in the Mako-rich glory of the Promised Land.

I am pretty severally allergic to the proteins in like 95% of all fruit, and some vegetables. I pretty much eat meat all the time, with the exception of a salad here or there. I don't have much choice in the matter.

i stopped eating meat just over 5 years ago. but i still eat fish.

i love animals too much to eat them. especially pork, thats just fucking wrong. pigs are very smart animals, and if you can look into the eyes of your pet cat or dog and feel the loving connection, then how the fuck can you not feel that same connection with an intelligent animal like a pig?

i just hate the way farms are ran nowadays, it has nothing to do with giving the animal the least amount of suffering, its all about making money no matter how neglected the animals are


sorry for the angry rant, but i really love animals and really wish people would wake up and realize just how poorly these animals are being treated, and how we consumers can make that change by boycotting certain products and companies.

it would be one thing if all farms were doing things the right way and properly raising and slaughtering animals, but no such luck.

I was a vegan for five years and for the past five or six have been a vegetarian. I wanted to get back into eating fish but, apparently as I decided to stop eating meat when I was eleven, my liver/ kidneys don't produce the right kind of enzymes to break down even fish meat (as said by a gastroenterologist I saw who did weird tests on me for another problem).

Try being a vegetarian if you aren't, it might make you feel better/ help clarity of mind etc.

Fireal, I tend to agree with you, but bringing down evil industries is almost a futile idea. We have to wait for them to collapse under their own greed. You can't argue with most people who, when shown evidence, just refuse to care. They would rather have their sausage and bacon in the morning than consider making even the slightest of lifestyle sacrifices if it would help reduce suffering.

I never talk about this to people I know in real life, not since I was a younger teenager, and I still cook meat for my parents sometimes etc etc. A lot of people's being militant about it tends to alienate them from the normal person.

I used to be a vegetarian probably for a half of the year, after I watched Earthlings, in my high schooll years. Funny my girlfriend was almost uncomfortable by it and my family would probably have some fun about it. And I don't sad about it, I respect, people who choose not to eat meat and still deeply respect those ideas in that movie. But man how my view of the things changed since that day. How more things I saw and understand, the world can be so fucked up at the times, but still people are not bad.
I remember was on road trip to the Turkey and saw how much street dogs are there. But these are not just dogs, but more like half dead starving creatures. And I remember my uncle was saying to me, not to give them any food, because you can't get off them after, how many are of them. You just can't eat normally eat after it, if only you saw it dozen of time, like my uncle. And this is a situation they have to live with it. And like the farm who raising the animal for the consumption is just adjusting to our needs

I have no problem with people choosing to eat eat whatever they wish as long as they're reasonably well informed.
I think the binary aspect of the long-running vegetarian vs meat eating debate is unhelpful and we would be much better as a society concentrating on educating children on exactly how their food is produced, nutritional health and the environment, removing the effective subsidies to large scale intensive agriculture and from there, people's choices should lead to a reduction in meat consumption and more ethical food production overall - whether it be animals or plants.
Our main problem as I see it is an ignorant and individualistic population separated from nature.
