hey, i know i could google this, but out of curiosity, how much do you pay for a quarter o in america?
and your weights system is the same as mine right? cos I know Americans define miles and so on differently.

Pretty standard prices here go

8th £20
1/4 £40
1/2 £70
O £130

And to answer the question, I'm probably somewhere in the middle. Generally tend to tan my weed quite fast, but smokes are pretty paced out, maybe averaging a doob every couple of hours for the duration of a bit :)

Although I'll have several rapid pipes or bongs if i have a particular wish to be really stoned.

it fluxuates pretty broadly.

first, a word on quality.

in minneapolis/st paul you pretty much have your choice of everything from oregano in a sack on up to sour diesel, northern lights, and trainwrecks if you want 'em, but those can be hard to find if you don't know the right people. otherwise, it's pretty easy to find some good sticky nugs except around THIS time of year, about from august to the end of september. I rarely buy beesters, mids or below that level myself, so i will be talking about nugs - there's a spectrum of weed that encompasses everything we could call "nug", from the stuff that looks, smells, and tastes amazing but really only gets you about as high as good mids, to the stuff that's so amazing and sticky it could almost be namebrand, but isn't. usually the stuff i get is smack in the middle of this spectrum.

so an 8th on the lower end of that spectrum used to run you about $50, $45 if you're lucky, but at this very moment it's hard to find anything decent for under $60. part of that is the economy, and part of that is this particular time of year, when it gets kinda dry around here. however, if you have a good hookup (mine is fairly decent), you could also score some really sticky dank buds for the exact same price. For example, the last bud I got was $60 and under normal circumstances i probably only would've paid $50 for that sack. I just got some again a few days ago and it was also $60, but the quality is at least two steps up - it's denser, less big thick twigs taking up all the weight, stickier, hairier and the high is much nicer.

some dealers will give you a price break at the Q to Oz range - you could get a $10 discount if you get a Quad instead of an 8th, for instance.

Just picked up some kush grown like 30 miles from here - pretty good stuff too. usually goes 30 bucks for a half eigth, and 60 for an eigth.. now mids on the other hand, for just over a quarter ounce it was 40 bucks...

MJ is more of a nonreligious sacrament to me than a drug of abuse. (Abuse being regular use, I think that's a poor use of it, at least for me. Some people are different). I used to smoke frequently but I rarely smoke the stuff now. The next day I often feel hung over and a bit depressed. If I do smoke, I buy an 8th and wait for the perfect night to smoke a bowl or too. usually the rest of the 8th goes unused for weeks afterward.

The reason I smoke is to have a nice perma-grin going, kick back and listen to some tunes. I don't like smoking at parties or social situations because I get all quiet and just want to slink away. I've had the same bowl for over 4 years now and I've never cleaned it.
This is me exactly.

I used to smoke everyday but you get so used to it, you start smoking yourself straight. Now I smoke a few times a week and I get nice and stoney stoned. I also like to do it alone and listen to music. It really enhances the experience for me. I'll do it with friends if were watching funny stupid movies like monty python or going to see a band or something. Otherwise if I do it in public I get very introspective and overly self conscious

Not in the same context but I wanted to avoid creating a whole new thread.

Has anyone here successfully quit smoking tobacco?
The sinusitis turned in to an ear infection turned in to bronchitis etc and my one ciggy every 40mins habit is dirty as fuck. I am wanting to switch to nicotine gum but I am scared it is the whole ritual of rolling it up and holding it in my hands that I am addicted to also.

As for the weed thing. I used to be a daily pot smoker but it just became boring and messed around with my clarity of thought. Wait, these posts are from 2009... who am I talking to ?

If you want to quit, here's the golden rule: Do not smoke the next ciggarette. Repeat.

I've quit ciggarettes, smoke about 4 light joints a day untill I get mah vaporizer.

Oh decent and well done for quitting!
I am trying to use gum combined with one cigarette when I wake up/ just before I sleep at the moment, we will see how it goes.

Minimize your associations related to nicotine intake and try to supplement it with cognitive preoccupations you push ahead. Or it's a long process. Standardized nicotine levels are problematic too, seeing as you can't successfully taper off the stuff. Biggest thing is the social/physical habits.

Good luck to you all.

Apparently I'm immune to getting addicted to ciggies. Many time I've tried.

Not sure about nicotine gum there. You'd get addicted to the gum instead, wouldn't you? Are you sure you can't just be your own boss here? You are in control, not the ciggies. Besides, the nicotine is very easy to kick compared to the fact that you're just so used to lighting a cigarette when things get a bit tense.

What also helped me was having something in my mouth instead of a cigarette. I chose liquorice-root (works great on the bowels too, went through meters of the stuff!), but I can imagine having a toothpick in your mouth could help as well. Had a little action that resembled the one I would have made smoking. Looks bad-ass to boot!

The effects of nicotine are boring as fuck anyway. I'd much rather take one single hit from a well packed bong then smoke a carton of cigs any day.

I feel like my habits are dependent on other factors...class times, responsibilities, and other situations in which I'd rather be sober. I usually smoke after work or class and have finished (or at least nearly) completed assignments or readings. I have an indica strain currently that knocks me out after feeling a soothing body high, which is a nice change of pace after several high-octane sativa strains.

I quit cigarettes when, midway through my 11th of the night, my friend called me to tell me her mom had passed away from lung cancer. (Plus, I realized I could get 3 rolls of film for the price I'd pay for a pack of Reds!)

In terms of weed, I went through a period of about 2 months when I was smoking daily, sometimes multiple times a day. I was unemployed and not in school, so I'd pretty much spend all day getting high and walking around my neighborhood, then I'd go hang out with friends til 3 or 4 in the morning, get a couple hours of sleep and start again the next day. What I started to figure out towards the end of that period was that - and stop me if this makes no sense whatsoever - when I smoke constantly, my tolerance is such that I still get good and high, but I stop feeling what I'll call the "beneficial effects" of the high. I'll still be able to enjoy the fuck out of Radiohead, but my state of consciousness doesn't change like it does when I only smoke once or twice a week. When I hold myself to that limit, it hits me like a freight train and I come out of the experience with new ideas and a feeling of understanding that I don't get when it's just what I'm doing all day. (Keep in mind that this theory is something I came up with last night after smoking for the first time in 3 weeks!)

Got my vape, it's time to slowly say bye-bye to combusting tobacco. I made a nice relaxing mix of peppermint, St. john's-wort and marocan hash. Mixed it up in a mortar and pestle. It's better then every cigarette I've ever had. I can't wait to experiment with vaporizing different plants and make tasty flowery cocktails.

Ah well, at least I don't smoke daily. I only do it during the weekend.

I don't count that as a failure by any means. Keep on trying !
