this could have been so much better. will reserve final judgement for the full tracks. but i must say that it's a sad state when russell haswell is the highlight.

Bibio's version, is in its own right a masterpiece indeed, He has made Kaini Industries his own i feel.

Would really love to hear him at some stage in his musical career work with an classical orchestra,
Could see that working really well with his music from this little sample!!!

Mira Calix's IABPOITC is BEAUTIFULL...! When i heard the vocoder bit reinterpreted on this i really did get goose bumps all over!

PS. i only listened because i didn't buy warp20 but i will be getting the other cds in the shops.

EDIT: I wonder why BoC didn't put a mix forward for this big release...

for those choosing not to hear it until you get the actual boxset, you're gonna be in for a treat with Bibio's cover. Trust me! :D

I like Autechre's remix of "What is house?"

Also the Born Ruffians remix of Milkman/To cure a weakling child is just fucking retarded.
No, I won't. Please go away. I don't like you.

Don't think so. It's definitely not as good as the original, but I like this slower recreation. It's something I'd play/dj with for sure!

We are of a mind on that one Fred old chap. Love that mix.

Bibio comes up trumps, no sweat.

Mira is no better or worse than I'd expected really. S'not my fav BOC track anyway.

Haswell's having a giraffe aint he?

Autechre seem curiously respectful of the original but on the other hand the subtlety is kind of in alignment with how I hear these things in my head when I play them back to my self and make small tweaks. Or something. anyway I like it.

The rest is pretty smart too so it's four thumbs up from the BR.

i don't think so. his mix is quite faithful to the original but with a twist.

Neither of them are my cup of tea. Just my opinion. I never liked remixes. But I still can not wait to hear 747.

Just to clarify here...are all of these comments in response to previews?

Personally, I think it's important to reserve judgement until I can hear the whole track. I'm sure there are tunes that I love that could sound dreadful if parsed down to 30 seconds...can't possibly do a track justice that way, IMO.

Don't mean to patronize here...just a wee reminder.

my comments are certainly based on the two minute samples provided by Juno.

since that is what we are given as a preview to encourage us to make a purchase it is therefore perfectly valid to make opinions on the strength of those samples

word! and two minutes is way more than the 30 second samples most sites happen to use.

That Bibio cover is great. Lots of weird voices and things. Nice! Very sophisticated Calix interpretation too. Both are successful, and explain how very musical the originals are, which is sometimes lost with those synths, I think. The acoustic instruments really bring it out.

The others will probably please fans of Warp style electronic beat music.
