If they were to remaster old songs....
If boc were to remaster some of there old tunes era music, which songs would be your first picks?
I guess one song that stands out in my mind would be "Finity". for some reason i am addicted to this song, and i wish it were in better quality.
btw, this is my first post here, if this subject has already come up.

you can't even hear the drums on 5/78. that one is a real mess. kind of a boring track imo.
hiquality chinook would be awesome.. have to keep concourse.. M9/original nlogx... nova scotia robots... spectrum... magic teens... brainfire (wish there were more like this)... skimming stones... whitewater... "korona" or whatever..

Not necessarily. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Maxima's versions of Bocuma/Roygbiv and most of the other later-officially-released songs are identical to the official versions of them, just without the tape distortion from the recording of Maxima we have. Whitewater might just need a cleaner transfer from the original master to sound much better.oscillik wrote:which would require it to have some kind of re-mastering.esselfortium wrote:Whitewater, though more than likely it'd just mean them releasing a CD-quality version of what they already have.
i'm with you on Whitewater. that track is genius

well according to my ear, they're not quite the same. there are subtle differences (most notably the fact that the fade out/fade in between Bocuma and Roygbiv is more dissonant in the boc Maxima version as opposed to the cleaner fade on MHTRTC).esselfortium wrote:Not necessarily. either way, any material that is being readied for CD pressing needs to be mastered for the medium, just like when pressing vinyl. i would assume that the original source is from either analogue tape, or DAT. either way these original recordings would need to be dithered down to 16bit 44.1Khz and normalized.
