Because of this "natural" tendency I should not be allowed to hunt for game, and so eat?

that gum you like is going to come back in style
Sorry if I bored you Dave. As a side-issue, we don't have "soccer" riots in the UK anymore. That was back in the 1980's, and the footage shown on American TV usually dates from that time, but I digress.dave_from_2001 wrote:Your argument is boring. People got drunk and became offensive? We do have lots of drunken halfwits though, and every Saturday night as these pricks stagger home kicking the living crap out of anything that moves and generally acting like the arses they are I count my blessings that they probably don't have a gun. Actually, on second thoughts... maybe you're right. Perhaps we should hand a few out? Now THERE is a thought!
Sorry, did you say I drove this into the absurd? With respect, you compared a gun with a fly-swatter. I didn't really feel a serious reply was warranted.dave_from_2001 wrote:You have driven the auto analogy into the absurd. Kind of like Oscillik's absurd comment about poop. You don't have a supermarket then? Restaurants? Pizza delivery boy maybe? Shit, things are worse than I thought.dave_from_2001 wrote:Because of this "natural" tendency I should not be allowed to hunt for game, and so eat?

I hunt and fish, yes. Where meat come from? Supermarket? Both you and Oscillik appear to be incapable of subsistance. Are you vegetarians or something? Experts on rifles, the 2 of you, yet you have neither used one. Or gone fishing. Correct? I'll take silence as a yes. Pathetic.Mexicola wrote:Sorry if I bored you Dave. Nice to hear there are no more soccer riots! they must have banned the sport over there. Right?
the silence is a sign of the fact that you fail to grasp my point. follow your religion. no skin off my nose.dave_from_2001 wrote:I hunt and fish, yes. Where meat come from? Supermarket? guys, clearly the only appropriate way to settle this argument for good is a duel to the death....with large guns of course.
and just for the record, no, i still don't think being a respectable citizen and owning a legal firearm is inherently weird/bad/immoral/impractical/a rediculous idea. if people didn't have guns to shoot eachother with when they 'get to their breaking points', they will use anything else within reach, right? a knife? a bat? a chainsaw? a flyswatter? it's the behavior of the individual that scares me, not the device of violence they use. people that want to kill people will kill people, guns or not.
i don't think anyone here who owns a gun or wouldn't care if they did thinks that they're harmless or not potentially dangerous, even 'in the right hands'. although i fan the fire, maybe i just don't feel an issue like this deserves such a large debate. cave men use rocks, we use gunpowder. murder is murder is murder. albeit more effective but certainly more detrimental with bullets, especially as current societies have evolved, i don't think there's anything unnatural whatsoever about using a gun to either protect yourself or to supply food.
yea, it sucks to think maybe you must live in a place where a gun is your only logical protection. this world is an incredibly fucked up place, and i will maintain this cynical attitude as long as i see fit (oh well). some people here may live with that reality everyday. isn't it a natural adaptation as the animals we are then to defend ourselves? moving and such, while frequent in my own life, is not an open option to all.
luckily my revolver is for protection from animals, not from crips. having to use a gun as my only real defense from vicious animals while hiking in the backcountry is not a good enough reason to stop me from going out there. i have every right, as a human being, an animal, to do whatever i need to do. for what it's worth, i've never been hunting (i love animals) but i entertained myself once using snare wire way back in boy scouts to catch anything. didn't work out too well...i sure hope if i have to do it for real someday to survive (not entirely implausible given my lifestyle) that i'm not the miserable shit in the woods throwing sharpened sticks.
the issue is a lose-lose, is it not?

I know where meat come from, thanks. And no I probably couldn't subsist, I reckon you've got me there. When the revolution comes and the anarchists take over I'll get a gun. Until then I'll stick to going to work, earning cash and paying for somebody else to catch and kill my food for me. I know, I know, it's a sick twisted World isn't it? I also don't generate my own electricity to power my PC, or keep a horse to get me to work in the morning.dave_from_2001 wrote:I hunt and fish, yes. Where meat come from? Supermarket? No, I'm not vegetarian. Never will be. I've nothing against fishing at all. Have been secretly considering taking up beach casting for some time now, despite my Mrs taking the piss every time I mention it.dave_from_2001 wrote:Are you vegetarians or something? And wrong. I was about 15. Fired a .303 in the Air Training Corp. Enjoyed it too. Never felt the need to own one and keep it in my house though.
And wrong. Again. Well done!dave_from_2001 wrote:Nice to hear there are no more soccer riots! they must have banned the sport over there. Right?
Nice to see the old stereotypes are alive an well over there. We also don't all live in London, eat fish'n'chips for breakfast, speak like Hugh Grant and we don't all know the Queen. Do keep up.
Apologies to everyone else having to endure this. Usually I wouldn't rise to this bollocks but occasionally I'll make an exception.
