I heard the album and I love it. The word 'glacial' perfectly describes it. I also love the chords on all of the songs, they're all wonderful stacked 9th and 11th and 13th chords. Very beautiful.

Dayvan Cowboy:Not the first time I heard it...Still,it gets a whole different feeling this way.

Left side drive: Goosebumbs all the way.It sounds a bit repetive at first but that last 2 minutes are soo speciall.It
feels like 10 minutes.The synth at 04:07 is amazing.

Head from Telegraph Lines:Heard this one at the end of the trailer.Still kicking the goosebumbs from Left Side Drive.

Skyliner:Sounds very different than on myspace,altho its the same track.Its the way the introduced the track.Brilliant.
Really kicks at 4:30.Synth is undiscribeble beautifull.

Under The Coke Sign:The bass/synth has the somewhat same feel as olson (witch I adore more than anything)I was waiting
for a beautifull melodie to kick in....but it didn`t...to bad...

Dayvan cowboy:The ambient at the begining is very nice.Nice spin-off from UTCS.Sudden change of channel.Beautifull power synth
Makes me think back of HFTL.Nostalgia from the same collection...brilliant.Great change from the original.Goosebumps came back again.
Short silence...some static sounds.Feels like home.
Normally i`m not that fond of remixes,but this cracked my hat(sorry no better way to discribe).It was a whole different track

Left Side Drive (it's the beeps near the end that do it for me) + Heard From Telegraph Lines (short, awesome, Bocuma style) have grown on me so much. Two of BOCs best works to date.

Wow... I just listened to it... Gotta let it sink in for a while...

My initial reaction is that the 'Odd Nosdam Remix' was fucking weak... What a waste... Hopefully It'll grow on me, but when your sharing a slab of wax with the likes of 'Left Side Drive' and 'Skyliner', you can't help but be compared...

'Heard From Telegraph Lines' is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard... It's so unfair how short it is; I only wish I could extend it into a 7 minute epic... Just imagine a sublime break-beat over that achingly gorgeous synth...

Does anyone with the vinyl find that the pressing is noisy, particularily in the right channel? It's a coloured vinyl so some noise is expected (since it's made with cheaper wax) but it can be a little distracting during the quieter bits...

"Left side drive" and "Skyliner" are my favourite tracks so far this year. Especially LSD (he he), that track is just amazing

Overall I have to say that I find the EP a bit too brief though, I had hoped for more new tracks (I don't really count the interludes as tracks) and the Nosdam mix doesn't sit well with the other BOC material included. IMO the only person who could remix BOC and do them justice is Ulrich Schnauss. Hope they call him up.

Maybe not the only artist, listen to the Helios remixes and covers and tell me they're not dope.

Well, now that I've given the EP it's due here is my proper album review...

Dayvan Cowboy: I guess these days this is being billed as BoC's break-through pop track. It's an excellent introduction to the EP and it's familiarity makes the anticipation for the newer tracks after it all the more pronounced.

Left Side Drive: As I've stated in a previous topic, listening to this track has me experiencing a form of synesthesia where I can see, feel, taste and smell an environment. The melody is quite understated and the production has a very wide-open feeling.

Heard From Telegraph Lines: At the <i>very</i> least this is my absolute favorite BoC 'interlude' piece, if not my favorite track of theirs ever. This track encompasses just about every emotion I could imagine... It is absolutely tragic how short it is...

Skyliner: The drums here remind me of the 11 minute Warp10 live track which is definately an excellent thing. Seldom can a track be so visceral as to paint a striking environment in your brain every time you hear it. It's a journey in every sense of the word... One of BoC's best tracks to date.

Under The Coke Sign: Like 'HFTL' this is a fantastic idea for a track that was cut tragically short... The production is second to none in terms of atmosphere.

Odd Nosdam Remix: Would have preffered to hear Skyliner again instead... This remix is a waste of space for the most part. It wouldn't be so bad were it not sharing the album length with some of the most beautiful music ever produced... One semi-interesting thing I'd like to note is that the 'second movement' of the remix sounds like it is sampling the unreleased peel-session track 'XYZ'. Anyone else hear that?

Overall this EP is proof that BoC's composition and (especially) production techniques continue to improve with each release. This EP is depressingly short, but why do I get the feeling that it is a teaser for things to come?

I could not agree with you more. When I first heard it at the end of the trailer, I was COMPLETELY taken aback. It was the PERFECT ending to that trailer (a prelude of things to come with the EP?

). When I heard it, I immediately thought majesty and pictures of ice-capped mountains and blue skies. It's amazing that such a stand-alone melody can pull out so many pictures and emotions. Beautiful and imperial are the only two words that can practically describe it for me, it's phenomenal for such a short piece! Reminds me a lot of Macquarie Ridge, and it even MAAAYBEE surpasses that, for me at least...I know, I know xD, don't flame me..ahh!

The EP is short, but so very sweet.

Left Side Drive is up there with the best. Very spacious sounding... and when it hits 3:47... my god... utterly amazing stuff. That string interlude at the very end of the track... did anybody else think that sounded very unlike BOC? Seemed more like Eno or something. Still... I do like Eno as well.

Just like everyone else here, I pretty much wet myself when I heard HFTL at the end of the "trailer". Definately one of the best interludes ever... and it has an older sounding quality... like maybe it was made long ago...

I dig Skyliner. You can tell it was made around the Campfire period. It's a solid track... but I had already played that shitty mp3 leak to death... sure does sound better on the EP. Again, another wonderful ending.

Under The Coke Sign is pretty damn sweet. Before I heard the track, the name kept on making me think it was going to be very organic and almost down to earth sounding. Oddly enough, the song gives me a very spacey futuristic vibe, which I love. I too also noticed a similarity to Olson.

The Odd Nosdam Mix is harsh and very bizarre... but fuck if I don't like harsh and bizarre! I honestly dig it. It's very very dark...

Well i finally got my copy at the weekend and i'm not disappointed. I love it all! Favourite track is Skyliner, but LSD runs it close. I love the whole feel of the set. I even like the remix - it's totally not what i expected even after reading some of the views here. It seems to me to be quite consistent with the rest of the ep. I think if we didn't know it was a remix and it was split into three seperate tracks everyone would love it.

hey, people! i've been checking out this site for a while and finally decided to join. never been part of a forum-thingy before, but boc is just too great to not share with people!

yes, the ep is wonderful! with each release the arrangements get more and more complex and lush.
"Left Side Drive" seems to remind me of "The Beach At Redpoint" not in mood, but rather in how the chords are related to each other.
the remix is so interesting to me. i was really disappointed when i first heard that a remix would appear on an official release of theirs, but i guess i should have just trusted them. they know what they're doin'. did anyone notice that the loud section of the song is just "Dayvan Cowboy" backwards? and i suppose he brought in someone to add addtional strings and tape collage (???), hence the credits on the back. anyway i thought that totally went with boc's whole backmasking thing and really helped me appreciate how good the song is backwards too. i'm totally looking into getting odd nosdam's album. lo-fi ambience/tape collage sounds very promising.

This album has been very addicting for me (just as most boc albums)! Theres a part to look forward to in each segment of each song.The tracks are arranged in perfect order too, dayvan cowboy is just a big build up to L.S.D for me though. However,the more I listen to Dayvan Cowboy the more I enjoy it.
Heard from the telegraph lines is beautifull but it sounds almost whiney to me compared to Under the Coke Sign.
Skyliner is nice and consistent, and very catchy with those filters they put on the beggining of the synth (the first one at one minute and 2 seconds) .
Under the Coke Sign is an amazing track, and my favorite. Its one of those tracks that if someone filmed a montage of your life, it would be the perfect theme music.
