Trying to think whether the front would be better with the saturation down just a tad or the colors left up.

I like it a lot, it stands out very differently from all of the covers we have had.
Thanks again, I've no real idea what I'm doing, so everything's a product of just messing around. I just played with the images in iPhoto before adjusting colours and other stuff in GIMP. The sharpness comes mainly from just upping the sharpness, definition, contrast and saturation settings.
I did wonder as well whether the font colours were too strong, but I think it's sort of needed for the theme to work.

Thanks very much man. Coming from yourself, that's a real compliment. I consider myself a master at a technique I call 'haphazard cocking about' in Photoshop.

haha, no harm in that man! But yeah, have to say liking it very much. You plan on doing a complete design, or just having a crack at a cover?

I was gonna chance a second one, and still might before the deadline runs out, but I'm pretty satisfied that what I got is probably the best I could do. Have all the dummy text and stuff, so wouldn't be as time consuming, but I'd like to do something more vintage looking, if I was to try another design. We'll see how it goes.

Look forward to seeing the rest of yours, should you decide to continue with it! Good job again ;)

EDIT: also love the Twoism logo you used, always been a fan of that one. That's not to say I don't really like the newer 2ism one. Nice to see something different.

Doubt I'll submit a full design. 2 year old daughter kind of reduces my freetime these days.

Besides, while I like what I do in PS, I've always felt quite strongly that those who actually design something, adding an element they've created themselves, deserve to win these things. Anyone can bugger about in Photoshop and I say that as one of those people. Posted it just for amusement of the board.

Been a while since I designed anything really, just thought that it would be a fun project, especially after submitting tracks for the album. Every now and then I'll make up projects to do anyway, just to keep the portfolio up to date and not get rusty (gig posters etc, as a lot of college work is pretty boring, and past work for clients is even worse) . If any of ye wanna check more of my stuff you can do so here: https://www.behance.net/jasondowd

A lot of it was work-related, so heads up it's not as exciting as doing artwork for something like this, which I really enjoyed doing.

Working with a friend of mine on some really spacey images to submit for this. Would you guys be into some thing along these lines?

To me it looks like the cover of an old sci-fi paperback, really cool.

I'm kind of amazed that only Goiter responded until now but that artwork is amazing! Totally like the idea behind it, great color scheme as well!
Thanks. I like the idea of continuing with some kind of shape in the center.

OK, I'm going to stop saying I love these now as I've yet to see one that I don't think is fantastic. Well done everyone! Can't wait to see the finished article 8)

hey again! here's a more complete set of images. We stayed up watching dune and putting these together. This has been such a fun submission. Again, I have to give most of the image credit to my good friend paul rabe https://vimeo.com/payl I'm just doing the arrangement/text/color-correction

Still a bit rough
