Watched Johnathan Glazer's new film Under The Skin last night. Ohmylord! Genuinely unnerving, uncompromising indi sci-fi. Inventive, great soundtrack/sound design, stunning visuals and filmed with a tiny crew in Scotland using lots of hidden camera rigs. Incredibly unsettling but brilliant.

Just watched Pantani: The Accidental Death of a Cyclist. Fantastic and harrowing, someone who had all the talent but was tainted by the corrupt system they thrived in.

I assure, even if you are not a fan of cycling or sports you will enjoy this.. it's a portrait of the human condition more than anything else.

just watched DAMNATION - a beautifully filmed and well told story/ doc about the USA and our twisted addiction to damming waterways and cutting off spawning grounds for salmon (not to mention filling in canyons and wiping out any trace of the histories of native peoples).

a couple of young guys made the film and did a really nice job of using electronic for the soundtrack (never thought i would hear Hecq in a movie, despite his 'soundtrackish' music!). it was funded by Chouinard (patagonia). i'd recommend it - inspiring!

Anyone catch Synth Britannia on BBC4 last night? Fantastic potted history of the rise in popularity of electronic music in the UK. iPlayer it. Well worth seeking out.

This is fantastic. I know we've talked about the Californian desert before, and I really need to get back there again one day. Thanks for this in the meantime.

Anyone seen I Dream of Wires, a documentary about modular synths?

Just watched The Day The Earth caught Fire. Well worth a look. Early 60's British take on the potential end of mankind. All been done several times since, but this one is very well done indeed, with an almost Ealing Studios / Lord of the Flies / stiff upper lip feel to the whole thing.

Also, see if you can spot an early, uncredited Michael Caine make a brief cameo towards the end

Dude this is the film I was maybe talking to you about in the pub? Might of been someone else (beer memory) but yeah this is the one I saw at midnight at the Dukes cinema in Brighton. Cracking Sci Fi.
