I pretty much agree since the first listen - I think the interlude is a highlight, but otherwise it's not really my cup of tea!

Everyone I've showed this new single fucking loves it, especially my girlfriend. I put it on at a party and got all the chicks dancing in no time. Daft Punk really knows what they're doing with this. Tasteful pop at its finest.

I find the funky-ass guitar riff infectiously awesome..a fair amount of people I've shown it to are digging it as well, though some are not. Interested to see how the rest of the album sounds in comparison!

Seriously , what on earth happened to daft punk after "da funk" ?
With the exception of the tron soundtrack , everything else is just disco.
What happened ?
Heard their new single....lucky day...lucky break...whatever......that took 10 years ? Sounds like just where they left off ...no artist evolution ....not impressed.
Bring back the da funk daft punk , not the flamboyant girlie disco.

If I'm honest, always quite liked Around The World, actually... 'Da Funk' was great

The tune writing on Get Lucky is solid... I think it's just those very direct up-front, dry vocals don't seem to quite gel - plus that it takes until the interlude to fully kick into gear - that meant for the most of the song my reaction was generally 'not sure'... To their credit, from all I've heard over the years, Daft Punk have never produced an actual bad tune per se.

Discovery brought in a mix of disco and house, and the new Get Lucky single seems to be more just plain disco funk, it's fuckin better than Homework I can tell ya that.

I've always been a huge Nile Rogers fan, and that's where the funk comes from on this track. Not that gone on the vocals if I'm honest.

I thought Discovery was awesome, and I could take or leave Homework, with the exception of a couple of tracks.

Still a little hyped for this but honestly BOC has taken all my hype.

I hate to admit it , but this has actually grown on me. Daft punk sent a trojan horse . I opened the gates thinking it was safe , and they got their hooks in me.
Dont quite know how it got under my skin , but I think it has.

while i disagree with the bit about artistic evolution, thanks for the comment, because it gave me an excuse to relisten to homework again. i used to not like rockn'roll and rollin' and scratchin and the ending 'noisy' tracks but now i love them. i was listening and picturing a horrific movie trailer during the parts where the beat dropped out. i love homework so much it's seriously a massive album. they've only ever made massive music. even human after all i really love although it took awhile for it to hit me.

I'll skip on that one. Daft Punk seriously blotted their copy book with that album. I remember when that leaked and thinking that someone had created faked tracks based on 20 second clips. Sadly, turned out to be the real deal.

Do quite like Get Lucky, although if I was Michael Jackson's estate I'd sue the shit out of Pharrell: moves and look are straight out of Billie Jean/Say Say Say/(insert your own reference)

I'm a huge Daft Punk fan, or at least have been in the past. However Get Lucky is monumentally underwhelming. I think it's just a case of them getting old and comfortable. It sounds like 'easy listening' compared to their previous output.

Further to my earlier comment in this thread, if Get Lucky is indicative of the album, they've won me back - fantastic summer single. Nile Rodgers....

Discovery was the first album I bought, and I still love it, never really followed them after that, but no doubt this will be worth a listen. Not sure about Pharrell's vocals on the single, I'd rather it was all robot voice.

dude, they were always pop.

Around the World, Technologic and nearly all of Discovery was pop.


You can't listen to Digital Love and tell me that's not pop.

It's just really well produced pop, stuff with actual emotion and feeling, but it's made with samples and computers.

Agreed. The world needs more quality pop. It's a genre that will be around forever so I'm glad there's still people out there who believe in making solid stuff. I love disco so I'm pretty into this. Fun summer times, can just imagine listening to this with friends at a picnic.

But seriously, I think great pop can be truly magical. Discovery got me through opium withdrawal. It feels like it helped my brain learn to how to produce it's own feel-good chemicals on it's own again.
