If I'm to be honest, we've never been a huge community as long as I've been here so this just feels like normal to me.

I actually feel like, for what we are, we are pretty active too. I agree with Cupz most of the fun to be had is actually in the other two sections, so everyone should try exploring there. It is quite unusual for the 'main' section of a forum to be (in my opinion) less exciting than the other sections, and that probably says a lot about us. Half my musical taste stems from This Random Sound in one way or another.

Having said that even their BOC subforum has slowly panned out into thin, clear, endless air.

Personally I don't even care if the forum is very active or not, I'm just really happy that the forum even exists in the first place! The pointless 'sifting' also fuels my analytical nature, so seeing any new topics on discoveries or potential discoveries within the music is always exciting for me, even if the topic seems like it's really grasping at straws

i have never been a very active poster but i discovered these forums around 2009 (made this account only within the past year or two but i had a previous one that got lost in a void of forgotten username+password+email. but even before i ever made an account i lurked for a long while). what has kept me the most entertained and satisfied here on these forums has been reading through past posts all the way back to the start of the forums. i was around 14 when i discovered this place and i had just immersed myself into my obsession with BoC and reading through posts that were made when i was a child was lots of fun for me.
i just like looking into the past and seeing that people were noticing and saying and feeling all the same things that i have about boards of canada, especially when (as you all know) it's so hard to find people irl to relate to in this regard.
i guess this isn't very beneficial information to those of you who have been here since the beginning, but for people who haven't been here long and haven't already done so, i will recommend reading through the much older topics. feels good [thums up emoji] [why don't we have that emoji]


also it prevents me (sometimes) from starting up conversations that have already been had multiple times hehe

i would also say though that it seems very active lately; i do not come here often anymore as i'm pretty busy with school and jobs but every time i come back i find myself thinking "woah what's going on what are we talking about now gotta catch up"

i find it very interesting that at any given time i'm here there are 10-30 guests on the site while i'm the only registered user online. who are you people. be my friends

I would go as far as to say that this forum is dominated by a few personalities. Frankly, it puts me off sometimes.

When you say 'dominated' do you mean it in the sense that they put other people down or stop them from expressing themselves?

If so I totally disagree.

But you would be right in the sense that there are people who post frequently with strong views and who are well known. This is not a bad thing really, naj is correct every forum has them. If you want to be included no one is stopping you, post as much as you want man I know I'll be reading.

Most importantly, people like that exist on forums because they have different personalities. Many of us, my self included, are far more introverted than the 'big personalities' when it comes to posting. (though I must stress I make no assumptions about how introverted anyone here is outside the internet.) Have a good mix of people is important to the health of a community like this, and after a certain amount of time being here your post count is not indicative of your standing here. There are well loved users who visit infrequently with only a few hundred posts over the years.

EDIT: I'd also like to say that you should give this place a chance (which I assume you are because you are still here ), it is a diamond in the rough.
