Interesting you mention this, I remember reading a 10 year retrospective review of Amélie not so long ago and it mentioned how the fairytale, rose tinted perspective of her story was timed perfectly from a marketing view after the tradegy of 9/11. It emphasised the importance of the films commercial success in America in relation to the attacks. Interesting read.Magrathea wrote:That was a great little movie, I liked it, the fact they used miniatures felt much more natural than all the CG stuff.aged sea wrote:Just saw Moon, enjoyed that.
Amélie is a favorite as well, first movie I saw after 9/11, much needed
Everyone loves that film and if they don't they are dead inside.

Dark Days- It's a documentary about homeless people living down in the abandoned subway tunnels of new york and they build makeshift houses and there's still electricity in the tunnels so they have tv's and all stuff to cook with.
It's all filmed with a 16mm camera and has a really nice feel to it. Almost like the film version of lofi music from the 90s.

Something about the cheap film and the interviews and just how it's filmed is really relaxing to me for some reason. I might need to watch it again soon lol.louise wrote:oohh i remember watching that years ago!TaoTapeTao wrote:Dark Days- It's a documentary about homeless people living down in the abandoned subway tunnels of new york and they build makeshift houses and there's still electricity in the tunnels so they have tv's and all stuff to cook with.

I like that really "strange" atmosphere of the earlier psychedelic-esque films. The soundtrack was really good, too. Although, the ending was kind of quick and I didn't really like it.louise wrote:true to your word. watched it while i couldnt sleep last night. kinda strange but in a good way. id watch it again :)xbearhead wrote:Fantastic Planet
