most overrated? Most of their popular songs, I find to be pretty deserving of the praise they get. It's much easier for me to state my least favorite BoC songs.

I really don't like much of TCH, it's all pleasant but nothing on it ever grabbed me and wouldn't let me go, the way that MHTRTC,geogaddi and TH have.

These songs stand out particularly as just songs I really despise. I mean, from any other artist they'd be fine, but as BoC material, I just hate them. Artists are free to do what they want and I respect them for not pandering to the masses, and from what I understand, people generally love TCH. I just hope they fully got their guitar-strumming out of their systems. TH's sound bodes well for my hopes for their future sounds. I love it. It is in a close race with me for being my favorite BoC album.

Also, someone here said that Zoetrope was not great. Just sticking up for it here. It's one of my favorite BoC tracks.

Oh, also I meant to say that TH is in a close race with Geogaddi for me, as favorite BoC album.

Also I want to mention Open the Light as a non TCH song that I'm not keen on. I find it bland, like hotel artwork.

Roygbiv by far. Not even top 10 from that album IMO

Roygbiv and Dayvan Cowboy. Two of their signature tracks are BOC "light" in my book. I think I'd like Roygbiv better it were longer and they expanded on it a bit.

I like Roygbiv, but I don't get it's popularity.

I hate Happy Cycling - it goes nowhere. Amo Bishop Roden is kind of annoying, as well.

Jacquard Causeway is perhaps the worst BoC song there is. It's way, way, way too long and detracts quality.

Try listening to it whilst walking, it gives everything such a menacing feeling. Try not to air drum those fills as well haha.

Yea I'll join in on the Jacquard Causeway sentiment. Never understood the praise that song got, and actually kills Side A of TH for me. Usually just start with Side B, which I feel is the best section of that album

I can't believe some of the answers im seeing. I mean, sure, Dayvan Cowboy is their most known song, but the layering in that track is so intensely beautiful, I love that song to bits. No replay value? Check my last.fm account. www.last.fm/user/windje if that isn't replay value. And Amo bishop roden? What the hell, how is that song overrated. I would have thought there would be a truckload of people saying Happy Cycling in here. In fact, that will be my answer to this thread to keep it on topic, Happy Cycling.

And about TH, I really want to like it, and when I listen to it, I do like it. But fact is, I haven't even listened to the entire album 10 times. And The Campfire Headphase is my favourite album, Geogaddi is a really close 2nd, but I really don't get the amount of hate TCH gets, with decent headphones, that album is fucking amazing.

I get where they were "going" with Geogaddi, but I don't understand why everybody is so quick to call it their favorite BoC album. Even listening to the whole album at once, it still seems to me like the soundtrack to a weird, psychadelic Dante's Inferno

I think it all comes down to what you enjoy out of music, everyone has their own taste. The great thing about BoC is that any of their 4 LPs could legitimately be called a person's favorite depending on where they're coming from.

My personal complaint is that TCH is okay, but overproduced/overdamaged, just for the sake of it. You could say Geogaddi is the same but it feels like it came from a more genuine place. Like "this is what we should be doing" vs TCH's "this is what we're expected to be doing"

I think Dayvan Cowboy is a great barometer of a person's feelings about that album in general. I definitely spent a lot more time listening to more OTV1/2/R35TT during the TCH era than anything else.

Roygbiv. Don't get me wrong, it is great and the first BoC song I ever heard (Not knowing of their history I thought BoC actually started in the 80's when I heard it ). That being said, yeah, it's a nice little tune, and the aesthetic is really nice, but so many times I hear how wonderful and the song is, particularly the bassline. Like I said, it's not bad at all; it just doesn't grab me and make me think like other BoC tunes do.

That's exactly why I love it so much

I also love the song titles, I feel that they fit the mood of the songs very well. Beware the Friendly Stranger, In the Annexe, etc. The titles just sound like fragments of thoughts and messages, just like the songs feel like fragments of memories or moments in time to me.

On topic, I don't really get all the hype around New Seeds. I much prefer Palace Posy, as far as TH goes.

Every single BOC song that has ever been heard is overrated, as there is at least one person giving each song more praise that it deserves.

Or Jacquard Causeway.

I totally agree, man. I've been thinking similarly for years: I understand exactly where they were going, but, for me, it doesn't get to as interesting places as records that weren't so much "going" in definite directions (most notably MHTRTC) and I don't think it is anywhere near as much of an illuminating journey as the other "goers"; TCH and TH.

I think I find Geogaddi a less 'mature' work, in comparison with later albums. The pre-Geogaddi stuff, on the other hand, doesn't fall into a similar criticism as I think it's more raw and organic; growing on the back of teenage years, and more youthful psychedelic 'confidence' in execution.

So.. yeah... for me... I think Geogaddi as a whole is overrated.

Peacock Tail and that's pretty much it.
