Yeah- excellent recording. I always got a big Bends feel with this track, vs. OK Computer.

It's probably their most immersive record since Kid A, and unless you're fully giving over to the dreary subtleties, you can completely tune out of what's going on. As a fan of Radiohead, I don't think anyone was expecting .... this.

Fave tracks are The Numbers, Present Tense, Decks Dark, Daydreaming, and True Love Waits, the new version really works in the context of the record.

Saw them live for the first time last night. It was a perfect mix between new songs, and old songs.

Opening with Burn the witch, Daydreamer and decks dark. They played some absolute favourites of mine as well, everything in its right place, there there, karma police, street spirit, idioteque.

Thom was sounding lush, and the entire band was on point.

Couldn't have wished for a better honeymoon.

Burn the witch live is amqzing by the way.

Valotonin's relationship is falling apart so daydreaming fucking got to me.

Back to the original subject, I am really glad this album came along when it did. I am still incredibly loyal to the live acoustic versions of true love waits, although it is a worthy rendition of it.

That's pretty much it. In hindsight, I typed out entirely too much (not like that's rare or anything).

Speaking of "art" bands...I've seen the record as well as Radiohead referred to as "art rock" for quite some time now in more recent years. There's something that feels very deeply off about that. I'm out of the loop as to whether or not that vague label is applicable.

Anyways, I definitely agree with TTK. AMSP is a serious blood relative to Kid A/Amnesiac as far as I'm concerned, particularly with Daydreaming and Ful Stop. Production is similar to the last two records but it's in a very different territory musically.

decks dark. so dynamic. the subtle tension and release... the band sounds transcendent. the restraint throughout makes it so to my ears

Decks Dark has a very similar melody to Tear Drop and the chorus is exactly like a Rufus Wainwright song that I can't remember right now

I still listen to this daily.

I still love it so much. Burn the Witch is still amazing, I still love Daydreaming. Decks Dark still sounds as good as on the first listen. Desert Island Disk was my first favourite of the album because it has so much resemblance to Nick Drake songs, but I kinda skip it alot now. Other absolute favourites are Identikit, and especially Present Tense, I fucking love the use of the women choir in Present Tense.

Overall, a solid 9/10. It is amazing. For me it really is up there with In Rainbows And OK Computer, my absolute favourites.

saw them live in the early 90s as 'on a friday' then saw them again in 97 at glastonbury and thought they'd never better that album. Been proven wrong with every release since. Moon Shaped Pool is perhaps the best since Kid A or Amnesiac. Brilliant from start to finish.

no i'm not from oxford and when i saw them they were awful, but thom yorke was electric. we genuinely thought they'd never be famous. they were bad.

Radiohead are a bit cursed man. As much as I like them. Badshit always happens in my life when I try to get into them again.

I can assure you I was.. Particularly after Tomorrow's Modern Boxes... Just made sense to me.

I'm more talking about the sound of the record,

I think this record might have the smallest electronic presence on any of their records since the 90's (or maybe equal to In Rainbows... iunno.)

Outside of the beats on Burn the Witch, Decks Dark and Tinker Tailor, there's only slight manipulations and effects through out.

Does anyone think that Ful Stop when they first heard it was a little to heavily influenced by Dungtitled in A Major?

Anybody been watching the vignettes the band have been putting out over the last few weeks soundtracked by the album? The one for Tinker Tailor is by far my favourite.
