i'm sorry, but qtip is not innovating jack right now if so.
not tryin' to be a douchebag, but the renaissance was okay, and i think that's being generous when you put it in the company of progressive hiphop/wonk/whatever.
i mean it's a decent album, but it's not pants shittingly awesome in my opinion. overall the production was fairly straightforward and in many spots flat, flavourless, and almost simplistic. i think the best beat on that is either gettin' up or the last 3 minutes of move and the rest is pretty blahzay. certainly not innovative. now if you're talking early-mid90's then for sure he was coming with some amazing beats along with ali shaheed in tribe and some of his freelance beat prodo (give up the goods is still an amazing display of hiphop production to me).
as for new hudmo...i'm psyched for it.

outside the wonk/downtempo styles, personally, i'd say count bass d is definitely one of the freshest dudes out. nobody sounds like him.
i'm surprised that nobody has odd nosdam on here either. definitely a bad man.
there was a time when sensational was taking hiphop to some pretty interesting places, but i haven't heard (of) him for years.

also, i can't really stand to listen to him these days, but el-p had a very unique style/sound.
i think i already mentioned jneiro jarel...the shape of broad minds album is amazing.
whatever happened to beans??
daedelus? the busdriver stuff was pretty off the map.
lukid too, but maybe that's a stretch.

Just got done listening to HudMo's Butter Sampler... WOW... the track that starts at 4:19.... AMAZING!
Warp is on fucking fire at the minute, this is seriously good music

That sampler for the new HudsonMohawke lp does sound a bit cheesy at some points.
And there are some sounds that are returning throughout the entire sampler so its difficult to hear wether they are in those songs or not. A bit irritating.
However, the full track 'Rising5' is really good.
And the Polyfolk Dance ep was pretty decent too.

i'm looking forward to butter, but i didn't do any backflips listening to the sampler. def some cheese (nothin' wrong with that, i LOVE cheese).
personally i would love to see hudmo explore the fray he entered on that all city 7x7 ep...root hands i think is one of the tracks...super nice shit.

yeah root hands is the best track i heard for hudmo
