There's a few tracks that get into more shuffle/off beat stuff like Burial. Not that it sounds like it (at all!), but you'll see what I mean. There's also a lot of juxtaposition of melodic parts that seem to in and out of rhythm/phase with each other, kiiinda like Nlogax.
not good at describing music BUT do you remember the tune near the beginning of the final third mark. it had this loping odd chunk of bass, and after a couple of minutes swirling melodies that gave the whole thing a disorienting but heady vibe ala dawn chorus. thought it was brilliant but i wasn't keeping track of the number of songs that had played, so don't know the name.
you probably haven't a friggin clue what i'm on about but looking at the itunes tracklisting it's possibly split your infinities. killer!

I think we have the same track in mind, was it Jacquard Causeway?
Absolutely LOVE the quick/hard/abrasive low-pass filtering of the drums in this track, like cutting through stone with a sword made of diamond (or something, ha!).

the causeway one was 4th song i think, this one had a weird almost groove. this one was well into the album.

I expect it to be pretty good, as everything I've heard so far is.
I like the fact it's a more clinical/cold sound. We have albums of the more traditional 'warm/analogue' stuff. This sounds like BoC - but BoC doing something different. What more can you ask for from your favourite artist?

Oops, I must be dyslexic, I read "first third mark".
It's hard for me to pick it out now, everything started blurring in my memory bank after I went to sleep last night. I do remember a super thick bass track near the end, but I can't think of any other details than what you've posted to describe it.
Oh well, we'll find out in 2 weeks!

I'm not really putting a lot of expectation on the album, i mean the tracks so far have been great, and I hope that it stands up to MHTRTC and Geogaddi, but if it doesn't, well, at least they're still active and long may they continue to be.

I hope they release a B-sides of just drone tracks. That would be heaven to my ears

Hard to really give you a good idea, but for sure it's the opposite of Campfire. If anything I think it's closest to Geogaddi in mood, but more consistent with songs/tracks you're more likely to listen to over and over and over and over again (Geogaddi get's pretty sound-collagy in it's 2nd half). It also is a bit more beat oriented than any of their albums track-to-track, but also never goes into all out random rhythmic assault (ala Pete Standing Alone or High Scores).
Tonally, the 2 long unknown tracks from the ATP bootleg would not be out of place on this album--that may actually be the best point of reference.

I'm expecting at least one song on the level of Peacock Tail, which was the best song on their last album. I'm sure I won't love everything on the album, but at least one song of that caliber would suffice. I hope I'm wrong and the album is amazing from start to finish though.

Seems to be hinting at some type of Dystopian Future soundtrack. Maybe with its outlook inspired by films like Soylent Green, Silent Running. The visuals seem to have some type of global warming/climate change message.

When people think that the album must be great because they have been working on it for seven years, I feel weird. I sincerely do not think that they have been working on it for so long, they have probably done other stuff, and maybe in the last two years they have started to prepare the new album. I guess that Marcus has been taking care of his children, and Mike doing other things like researching, who knows. M&M have probably been enjoying their life more than thinking about satisfying the insatiable needs of the fans, and I am happy with that. The album is going to be great because it has been made by two genius!

I don't know, from what I've heard of it already, I reckon there's a good chance it's taken them a long time given their incredible attention to detail and the high production values. But that's not why I think it's going to be great. I think you said it right, "The album is going to be great because it has been made by two genius!"

This is silly I think.
You know the way people are saying, "the mhtrtc sound". "The geogaddi sound". "the tch sound", "the old tunes sound" - that is a huge clue ... :p

I might have already said this, but I'm expecting it to be good, no more, no less. I'm not expecting a certain sound and I'm not expecting it to be better than Geogaddi. I'm just expecting that I will enjoy it because I've enjoyed even their weakest releases to date.

I was a bit disillusioned when that first review mentioned that it was difficult to find one distinct theme out of the music on this album...now it sounds like it's quite the opposite. i'm expecting this album to take boc into territory we've never heard them tackle in this way before while still firmly remaining themselves, not following into the trends of modern electronic music but not totally having their heads stuck in the past either - just carving out their own distinct niche of sound. however, it doesn't seem like there are many largely ambient pieces like 5.9.78 or echus, which are generally my favorite boards songs. hopefully th will be so awesome that i won't even miss that though
