I saw it at my uncle the other day, right after 2001-a space odicy and some other indie films.Lovely weekend, saw at least 12 films.

I second the guy who said old biology videos- like BoC for your eyes.

I mentioned this film some time ago on here and it really is so BOC. I saw it back in the '75 or so when I was about 7. I can't vouch for whether the film is any good or not but I remember having a great time watching it.

Oh my god that movie looks killer!

I've seen that. It's rubbish. Then again, I can't stand stuff that's supposedly 'so bad it's good'- it's just bad.


If anyone ever watched the show 'mixing it' late night on ITV (in the UK), there was one that was made almost entirely from this film. (Mixing it was basically a 2-hour VDJ set they put on to fill time before those quiz call things became popular. There was a really good one once which featured Music is Math playing over chopped up footage of a cat falling and landing on it's feet. I was really stoned, and Weir's Way came on after... televisual bliss )

Aaagh,I know what you mean! I watched german television back then, and there was this music program called Viva. They had these animated "grafity art'ish" movie's.Also had some very nice drone'ish electronica in the background.

I know EXACTLY what you mean! Don't remember that particular bit (shame, it sounds great!), but I've spend many an hour slumped in front of that after a night out. That and the Open University.

Lost in Translation! That movie had such a unique soundtrack, a lot of it just flashes me right back to BoC! Just pop in the DVD and go to the root/title menu...the music reminds me a bit of Tears From The Compound Eye. ANYWAYS, that movie in general just reminds me of the ambience and spectacular sound BoC is.

This is a hard one since Boc means something diffrent to everyone .

For me it its growing up as a kid in the mid- late 80's . going to beavers(first level canadain boy scouts) every tuesday night sitting down in a very 60's 70's rec hall /church with gray white speckled linonlium . and orangey brown wood paneled walls leading up to arches filled with stained glass windows with depctions of christ on the cross in a kaledescope of colors and textures .then back down to a browny grey theater stage with layers of paint chipping off from the past 30 years of use . infront theres a projector screen . and a 16mm projector starts whurling up and we are sat infront of Canadain national film board documentary. perhaps about wheat farming in saskatchwan . or woodlen animal habitats like the beaver or moose maybe even about seagulls on the coast of british columbia , or pyshcidelic animations . most of which would have a very warm analog synth soundtrack that would allways be slightly out of tune on the film reels .

after we were finished we would be handed our patches that we had earned from various outdoor activities like canoeing or fishing , crafts and so on . The amazing thing is to think back that ill never experence that again . my eyes and ears were young my body small and everything was perceived diffrently in an amazing way that i can never go back to .

all they are now is sights of shapes ,colors and echos in my mind .

I thought that those sounds and those feelings were gone . But when i discoverd Boards of Canada i returned .and continue to do so every time i hear there amazingly personal music . who knows perhaps they too were trying to capture similar feelings through sound . I don't know but for me i know they have succeeded .

but the number one thing that reminds me of boc is this insanly creepy sesame street short film with .creepy tin toys , robots , Numbers and satellites .

Definitely Demon Seed, with its weird 70s scifi soundtrack and Proteus, the all-powerful computer thats the size of an entire warehouse.....

Interesting you say that, I used to think of BoC in those weird moments of LOST.
