THIS is going to sound nerdy of ME, too...but I don't think any emotional statements applied to Earthbound are silly. Unlike Final Fantasy and all that garbage, Earthbound (unknown to a lot of people, somehow or another) is a very emotional artistic project by Itoi. Yes, it's a product and a game, but Itoi himself is like an emotional astronaut. The man amazes and mystifies me. Earthbound should make anyone with a heart cry.

The song "Smiles and Tears" from EB is -guaranteed- to make me cry.

Oh man... I know what you mean. This song does that to me too. Maybe not for all the same reasons, but I know what you're getting at.
For me, it's almost like a vision of the future that I'm experiencing as nostalgia. Some kind of look back from a final moment, telling me that no matter what happens between now and then, everything is already tainted.

I will admit, I have seriously considered suicide more than once. I'm feeling a lot better these days, but The Smallest Weird Number reminds me of what used to go through my mind - reminds me that even now, my reasons would not be unjustified. I'm still a nihilistic wreck inside, and I don't even see it as a problem. I purposely read about serial killers and watch videos of terrorist extremism, murder, and suicide, and I feel nothing but a morbid fascination. I wonder how human I really am sometimes. But I can't seem to find any other way to see things.

We're all just meat. Knowledge, emotion, meaning, purpose - none of it matters when your brain stops living, and you are reduced to the bones and meat of a dead body.
I know exactly what this songs reminds me of - I am going to die. The bittersweet nostalgia in this one minute of music is all it takes to remind me that all this time I spend, and all I think, feel, and do, will be nothing but a brief interlude in between the times that I did not and will not exist.

I think that perhaps the only reason I go on is that I hold some vain hope that I'm working toward an unseen continuation. That whatever wisdom and knowledge I gain might not ultimately go to waste. That maybe everything I believe is false.

I find that in Quaristice, Outh9x can be highly emotional for me, something about it is so lonely, yet so content. But yeah, the melody in Corc has made me cry.

yeah Dawn Chorus is a song that made me cry indirectly.

Vietrmx21 gives me sad emotions because the first time I heard it was on the only youtube video that features it...

Hi Scores is probably the most emotion track for me, any time I really feel down, it comforts me a great deal. Such warm, thick synths and a really uplifting melody. Then of course THS is a brilliant follow-up, the whole album is really therapeutic.

man sometimes it's hard to choose but if my life were on the line (dunno what kind of silly situation that'd be) i'd say olson is my favorite boc tune of all time. it's a hard, hard choice but i think olson wins in the end. it's ultra perfect boc in my opinion.

The Scientist - Coldplay

And most of Vashti Bunyan's Lookaftering.

I teared up at the Glosoli performance on the Heima DVD, by Sigur Ros yesterday.

I'd say 'melancholic', but it's easy to see how this could induce damp eyes if heard at the wrong moment. Kinda like Bocuma in a way, definitely a bittersweet moment.
