Some kind of thank you gift for BoC
Ottomatik had a great idea on the TH thread: "I was listening to RFTD and I got an idea: do you think we can make some kind of gift to the brothers? A special gift coming from all of us?
I am sure TH will be a really great album but I don't like the fact that the only way I have to thank BoC is to "just" buy the album. Do you think Warp would transmit a box of chocolate to the bros if I send them one?"
I think it would be awesome to actually do somthing- maybe some sort of digital "card" if you will- completly open to artistic input . Maybe scanning all of our signatures on it too. I don't know, but something would be cool. Not sure if mdg or anyone could maybe get the finished product in the right hands...
Just something as a token of our sincerest, most humble thanks.
Any interest?

Not sure if we have any graphic artists that would like to lend a hand...? I'm very limited in my photoshop/Indesign skills and abilities (and I'm sure there are so many other platforms/ideas out there), but I too would offer my hand at whatever I can do- even if it's collecting scanned signatures or any other grunt work needed.

If there was to be something done, I probably wouldn't try anything physical, you've got a good thing going with the digital card, but I can't help but feel what with the existence of this forum and Bocpages, the brothers know they've touched a lot of people deeply to the point where they'll discuss their work in depth and archive their career as much as is humanly possible.

True. Still kind of think something a little more personal might be cool- afterall, they are a very close and personal bunch. Then again maybe I feel a little too much like we're all extended family.Iced Cooly Beatnik wrote:If there was to be something done, I probably wouldn't try anything physical, you've got a good thing going with the digital card, but I can't help but feel what with the existence of this forum and Bocpages, the brothers know they've touched a lot of people deeply to the point where they'll discuss their work in depth and archive their career as much as is humanly possible.

On first read it seems a bit creepy... but the sentiment is there and i'm sure the lads would appreciate it.North by North wrote:

speaking from experience... Bleep is your best bet for "point of entry".

This is a nice thought, and I'm not trying to put a downer on a nice thought, but doesn't this seem a little bit cringey?
It seems to me that these guys want it to be 100% about the music and 0% about them. I get the distinct impression that the last thing they want is to be hero worshipped, or adored by hoards of screaming fans, or bombarded with fan mail, or bought gifts by fans like a 12 year old girl giving a boyband member a teddy bear.
I'm sure they appreciate it that we all love their music. That's what it's all about. I'm sure they'd prefer it if we concentrated on appreciating our friends and family instead of a pair of strangers, just like they do.
Buy your significant other/best friend a gift instead.
Sorry if I come off like a dick, I just call it like I see it.

How about we get as many participants as possible to take a picture of their chosen setting when they listen to TH for the first time.
I mean, we all know they are secretive but wouldn't it be interesting for them to see a glimpse into everyones own private space and seeing all the different places and settings around the world their music is being played in.

Agree. It's a little weird to me. They're musicians, who are making a product that you are purchasing. I certainly wouldn't want a random person to send me a gift. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, and I love BoC, but this is borderline creepy.Ciaranarchy wrote:This is a nice thought, and I'm not trying to put a downer on a nice thought, but doesn't this seem a little bit cringey?

Wasn't thinking anything other than a simple thanks- No underwear or anything. I'll just stick to my album purchases and message board praises.Ciaranarchy wrote:This is a nice thought, and I'm not trying to put a downer on a nice thought, but doesn't this seem a little bit cringey?
