I wasn't blown away but I definitely liked it better than campfire.

I felt like it was a start to finish listen like Geogaddi, but no one track really hit me in the gut.

Whoa. Pump the brakes. I love the album so far but give it 15 years. I had TW on this morning (first time I'd intently listened to it in awhile) and found it to be impossibly good.

Yeah, it felt like there were no hooks or grooving beats, only heavy droning synths with mediocre melodies. Geogaddi had Music is Math and 1969, but I didn't feel like any individual tracks on TH stood out.

It's certainly not instant and not in the old BoC vein but they are progressing as artists so as long as they are happy with the album then all is good. Cold Earth will be a big track I think.
You have to remember that there are people that will instantly love it because it is BoC but that does not mean that they are hearing more than you or that you have poor taste. BoC fans are as nutty as Rush fans and are as nutty as et c etc etc.

It's not a competition.

Based on first impressions, it's not quite up to scratch with Music Has the Right to Children, or Geogaddi at that, but it's on the same tier as The Campfire Headphase which is good in my books. I wass't left disappointed. It started to lose me after the first few tracks if I'm honest but really picked up after Cold Earth. I personally thought the second half of the album was a lot more satisfying, some of the tracks actually exceeded my expectations.

Palace Posy wasn't actually my favourite. Nothing is Real, Sundown and New Seeds was probably my favourite progression of tracks. Beautiful.

That's the whole point of BOC. First impressions are fine and dandy but give it time. Plenty of time. From what I could make out, TH will also be a grower for years to come but just comes out of the starting gate a little faster than what some of us are used to.
