Ghost Box

Post by electroworks »

Anyone into Ghost Box?
I've been quite obsessed with this label lately. My Favourite albums are As the crow flies by The Advisory Circle, The belbury tales by Belbury Poly and Hey let loose your love by The Focus Group.
What's your faves?

I've not gone too deep into my Ghost Box search, but a lot of what I have heard is actually really cool. From the looks of it (and sounds of it), it seems like they've got that 70s music library vibe going on. Really interesting, I think. I'm a sucker for a lot of those libraries like KPM or Bruton Music.

I've heard bits of Belbury Poly and Advisory Circle & really like what little bits I've heard. Love the whole aesthetic and feel of Ghost Box - I need to investigate further....

Yes - Ghost Box is probably the single label of most interest to me in recent years; I got into the whole sound from the first listen.

I sense it is fairly unique output on the whole, but instantly familiar in a certain way from my point of view... Artist-wise, The Advisory Circle is at the top of the pile in terms of listens, followed by Belbury Poly and Pye Corner Audio, but really they're all top notch.

Ghost Box is the perfect prime of hauntological/BoCsy musical deliciousness, in my opinion.

Love the Advisory Circle, in particular As the Crow Flies and Other Channels. I love the whole Ghost Box idea and aesthetic, it's perfectly in tune with everything I've been interested in the past few years.

Jon Brooks also has an album out under his own name, 'Shapwick', worth checking out judging by this ridiculously good tune and video alone, I think -

I have a lot of Pye Corner Audio. I think Advisory Circle is more popular but I'm enjoying the synth work on Pye Corner Audio a lot. Especially The Black Mill Tapes Vol 1-3 which are available on his Bandcamp site. Very well priced and totally worth it.
