A Few Old Tunes...
Thurs 20th June, 8pm-2am, free entry all night
Catch Bar, Kingsland Road, London

A night of music & visuals inspired by Boards of Canada
with DJ Food, Posthuman, Tom Central & guests...

Facebook event thing - http://www.facebook.com/events/203200013162993

cheers. hope to see some of you there.
good few tracks from the one on twoism series will definitely be getting an airing, alongside loads of rarities, oddities, edits & remixes, and music & film related to or inspired by BoC. All three of us hosting the night are massive BoC fans so really looking forward to this one.

...and yes, that is two Chinooks flying over the Trans Canada Highway ;-)

No wonder it looked familiar. Sounds like a fun night. If I lived there, I'd attend.

Awesome, looks like a great night. And those flyers are nice. Shame I live up north.

Nice work on the posters, I really like the hexagon sun one.

I live in London and I will almost certainly be there. That is the day of my last A level exam, so what perfect timing!

I find it funny that when I hear or read about Shoreditch, I can't help but imagine Vince Noir saying, "My friends are well shallow!" Yeah, I realize it isn't like that, but I find it funny how my perception of the area can be so well defined by a television media. I suppose it is similar to how some people view the United States.

"It's whats inside that counts, my friend!
It's not the jacket, it's the tailor!"

despite it being in Shoreditch, I don't think you'll need to worry about it being rammed full of Barley's... Catch on a Thursday evening should be fairly quiet, so only BoC fans and our lot will be in attendance. The weird visuals and ambient music should deter any randoms who stumble in...

I expect it'll be a really nice vibe actually :-)

...to be fair, Shoreditch isn't even like that anymore - the hipsters moved onto Hackney Wick and Dalston a while back.

Shoreditch on a Friday or Saturday night is more city workers in suits swilling vodka redbulls, who read in the Evening Standard about a "trendy, cool" bar in "Funky Shoreditch"... they even bus in brigades of shiny-shirt & plunging-v-neck douches from Essex suburban gyms these days. It's like any old town centre really.

Analysis of Shoreditch, talk of "hipsters"
I've lived in Shoreditch for near enough 5 years now and this sort of talk just makes me cringe. I also hate the word "hipsters", it's not even a real thing. No offense.

Anyway, I'll be there for sure. Looking forward to it.

:-) just a bit of banter

I've lived in Dalston, Shoreditch, Hackney, Whitechapel & the east end for a good 15 years now myself (although I was born south of the river so maybe I can't comment).
obviously you can't sum up an entire area with a single social stereotype. but it's still fun to tease...

little article in Attack Magazine about the night: http://www.attackmagazine.com/features/ ... of-canada/

includes a mini-preview vid, and an anecdote from DJ Food when he met the BoC guys back at a gig they did together in the late 90's...
