Oh shit!

Rubblebucket played the spring concert at my school this past semester (Green Mountain College in Vermont) and I drummed in the band that opened for them. We were called The Casual Sextet. It was a band made up of students ... we won Battle of the Bands and got some cash / got to open.

Don't know how to prove this, but uh ... yeah.

They were awesome. Really high-energy and sounded fucking great. They were also willing to interact with the crowd. I never listened to them before the show but I was way into it.

Also, that lead singer is sexy in real life.

Really enjoyed Bikes, great song to listen to on a warm summer day. I'm going to have to check out more from them.

Haha, did they have huge dancing robots with glowing eyes?

Because when they came to my hometown, I got to dance with huge dancing robots with glowing eyes.

The first song I heard by them was Bikes. At the time, I was really into Stereolab's Dots and Loops, and for a minute I was certain that I was hearing a Stereolab. Turns out it's Rubblebucket. The singer has a similar voice to Latitia Sadier of Stereolab, and the horn parts and modal harmony is very similar to Dots and Loops. Their self-titled is like a more cheerful/boisterous Dots and Loops.

They have a new album again.

And it's fantastic. Even better and more evolved than their older stuff.

I'll be there September 24th in Atlanta to see them if any of you people might be there.

this is still one of my favorite bands, one of my favorite groups to see live, and I've seen them a dozen times or so since making this thread

last time I saw them, they'd invited me to grab my trombone and join them for the after-show crowd parade! it was a highlight of my life, for sure - probably could only be topped by getting to visit Mike and Marcus's studio or something
