Of course there is no U.S. response. We're a nation with consumerism embedded into the minds and lives of every American citizen. I'd be surprised if the U.S. widely picked up the story, though I doubt it will happen because it seems done and over with, with Iceland returning to normal. It's awesome that the Iceland citizens were able to do this though. In fact, it's downright fascinating.

Ah shit. Now we'll probably have to go to war with them in the future.

Hate to rain every so slightly on this particular parade, but this story is a rehash of one that did the rounds back in 2008. Impressive though the tale is, it doesn't tell the whole picture and also plays a little fast and loose with the truth.

Still, I also love Iceland and anything that sticks two fingers up to bankers and government is just fine by me.

Indeed - c £7 for a pint of Viking lager if I recall.

Still reeling from a bowl of soup, a sandwich, a coffee & a tea costing £30...

hah, I saw the thread title and I thought "really? again, Iceland?"

i'd really like to visit too. it actually looks as though i'll be moving to Denmark in a bit less than a year, so I'm definitely going to try to traipse around Iceland while i'm over there.
