Telepath: possible primary resource

Post by JESUSANDHOES »

Hey again everyone,

Some users mentioned that they'd like to see my thoughts on other Tomorrow's Harvest songs after reading my thoughts on "Jacquard Causeway".

Below are some of my thoughts regarding the Tomorrow's Harvest track, "Telepath".

-=-=-=

According to the BoC interviews, Mike and Marcus tend to conduct a lot of research as part of their writing process. I think this process is one of the many factors that sets their music apart from so many other bands. But anyway..

I learned from bocpages.org that "Telepath" most likely has to do with the Microwave Audio Effect. In searching the web for further information on the subject, I came across what I think is a primary source for BoC's research on the subject:

http://www.freedomfchs.com/usarmyrptonmicrowavefx.pdf

The above pdf document is somewhat self-explanatory if you read it, but for those of you with less time, it's a de-classified (in 2006) US army report on the bio-effects of ultra-high-frequency-broadcasting weapons. (i.e. objects that broadcast frequencies in the MHz, GHz, etc.)

I would recommend a solid examination the first 12 or so pages of this report. At least, that's how much I read before I decided that I had found what I was looking for. The first couple pages are not necessarily connected to the song (in my opinion), but it's still interesting to read a document from inside the US Military-Industrial complex. And since you've almost certainly seen the album imagery, I think it's rather clear that at least some of those images are connected to the military.

Anyway, yes, the report does get a bit redundant at times; this is the government after all. Nevertheless the report is still quite an eyebrow-raiser if you know where to pay attention. And especially when juxtaposed with what you might see as an advertisement for the Army during the Super Bowl (ha), the above report sheds a very different light on the the US Military-Industrial complex. They are openly researching and developing tools to "safely" warm up people's body temperatures to induce fever-levels via microwave radiation, and possibly even tools to transmit language into the brains of individuals.

The following quote is on page 9 of the web pdf:

"it seems possible that this technology could be developed to the point where words could be transmitted to be heard like the spoken word, except that it could only be heard within a person's head. In one experiment, communication of the words from one to ten using 'speech modulated' microwave energy was successfully demonstrated."

There's a lot more interesting information than just the above single quote, but anyway, I think it's quite likely that this report had a direct influence on "Telepath". I'd love to hear what other people think about this.

I think you are spot on with this theory 8)

Also may I add, the chords (as mentioned many times before) are from the film "At Close Range" and the Madonna track "Live To Tell". The film is about a father who uses and manipulates his sons to commit crimes only to then kill them off.

The states potential misuse of microwave auditory technology to manipulate people into doing things for it own twisted agenda perhaps?

Highly interesting stuff, if legit then I wonder why they declassified it?
Application of the microwave hearing technology could facilitate a private message transmission. It may be useful to provide a disruptive condition to a person not aware of the technology.

Not only might it be disruptive to the sense of hearing, it could be psychologically devastating if one suddenly heard "voices within one's head."
Ie. Telepathy?

Or for Boards of Canada's twisted agenda? "It would be wise to remember that the same people who would stop you from listening to Boards of Canada..."

Why would any one want you not to listen to BoC?

sorry, i still don't get this about the chords are from that film, slight similarity, if even, i think we're seeing in to this a bit much on that issue.

just listened to it again there, nah, don't get it. they're having a right laugh at this.

Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNpBd_f_p9g. Dr Ross Adey took Frey's work on the Microwave Auditory Effect further, experimenting on monkeys and human subjects. He later carried out studies on the potential cancer risks of exposure to cell phone radiation (see http://microwavenews.com/news-center/ross-adey). New Seeds begins with cell phone audio interference.

In researching this, you'll notice some conspiracy theorists believe the voices that schizophrenics hear in their heads are actually due to the government using this "Voice to Skull" technology. Fits in with the paranoia theme of Tomorrow's Harvest.

excellent. glad to see the trail hasn't gone cold for everyone.
the melodies of the two songs are also very similar, and the one in telepath is really close to the intro from energy warning. one theory is that new seeds harkens back to telepath in the "epilogue" because it's about the same people; catching back up with the resistance in this future history, what happens to the survivors on the "outside" of the collapse. the cell phone seems to speak to the present too, as though they want to remind their present day counterparts that we have the seeds of connection and resistance within reach and that the fight is absolutely worth fighting.
i don't care how crazy it sounds. i think they want to encourage us to resist what is coming. right now people are actively trying to curb the way we communicate so that resistance doesn't foment the way it has already in cairo, kiev, etc. interference and transmission seem to be a major theme here, in more than one way.

I wouldn't count on it. They're musicians, not physicists..but who knows?

The above argument relies on the assumption that musicians don't understand physics, which is absurd.

Given the mathematical and scientific nature of their work, I don't think it's a stretch at all to consider this. It is obvious that they understand acoustics i.e., the physics of mechanical waves, because that's what sound is. It's really not much a stretch to begin thinking about other waveforms -- and they've even referred to Megahertz frequencies before in "Magic Window".

Christ, dude...Are you telling me that they are some sort of geniuses who can master military-level physics by themselves? Be realistic...

Also musicians don't necessarily have to be good at physics
