Named Garden of Delete. It is already finished apparently, and he's spent most of the summer figuring out how to present it.

Exciting.

Excellent! Hopefully it's a complete left turn to R Plus Seven, not because that record was bad, but because I expect nothing less than the unexpected from Oneohtrix :)

He mentioned that the whole 'R Plus thing is over'. So yeah, should be quite different. I don't think he needs to expand on that sound anymore anyway, R Plus Seven is a perfect standalone.

No, he said "The R thing is over", as in his albums aren't beginning with the letter R anymore. He didn't say anything about the musical direction.

Also, I hope Daniel releases Kaoss Edge's Bioconfused 4CD suicide edition.

It was kind of weird, though. I randomly decided to check pointnever.com for the first time in months just because I hadn't seen any news lately on the upcoming album, and it just happened that a new update had been posted just 2 hours earlier.

Ah right, my mistake. Though it could mean both, or either, as well.

OPN played some new Eccojams on a radio podcast a while ago. They were pretty good, but they haven't been officially released anywhere.

"I originally intended on this project painting some troubled pictures of pop music, but as it emerged I realised it turned into a self-portrait.”

Could this really be as awkwardly, awesomely emotional and psychedelic as it sounds?

I am soon going to give OPN a proper, thorough listen, as I have not in the past. I do have to say that his playful quality while not bad doesn't interest me so much. However, when he's not being particularly playful, I really enjoy his work. Sounds like the kind of guy who could score a film really well too, not in a conventional sense but similar to how Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have been scoring films using mostly electronics with the last one being oddly vaporwave sounding from time to time.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

He has actually scored a couple of films, one in 2013, and another this year.

I like it. Seems like a natural extension of R Plus' sound. More techno sort of sounds. Again it's got the whole "horizontally dense" thing he was going for. I LOVE the new age-esque bass guitar sound in the middle of the track. Reminds me heavily of Michael Manring's style during that period.

Exciting to hear the full release.

I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't like these new tracks at all. I love OPN and I didn't think he could release an album that I don't love, but this just isn't appealing to me in any way. I hope the full album ends up being better. The ARG story is ruining the depth of OPN's past releases, too. It's sad to see something as abstract and beautiful as the concept for Replica get simplified to such an extent. It seems almost like a mean joke.

Give it time, first impressions and all...

Also how can an ARG ruin past releases?

Because it removes the depth from Daniel's art. It makes it all feel like a silly game when it used to be something much more meaningful. He's taken the abstract and ambiguous concepts from his previous releases and turned it into some simple fictional story. It makes the past releases feel like they were nothing more than the foundation for Daniel's new science fiction novel.

You don't need to consider the ARG 'canon' do you? It's just a marketing game, and a bit of fun. At least that's what I assume, I haven't taken part.

I don't think it necessarily explains the concepts in a canon manner.
