Daughter's new album is really something. Their first one "If you leave" was also a real beauty. Heart-wrenching songs.
full album:
Listening to Daughter's music is like willingly tying an anchor to yourself and letting the weight pull you down to the bottom of the ocean. You're drowning but you don't want to resurface. Their music makes you want to feel sad and empty, because it's only in that mindset that you can see the beauty in these heart-wrenching songs.
I absolutely love Daughter. With this album they seem to explore their rock side a bit more than on the previous album. I love it, such talented musicians.

It also has a bit of a post-rock vibe. Reckon this new album will be really impressive live. Grandeur!

True, they are coming to the Netherlands pretty soon, but tickets were sold out really, really quick. Unfortunately.
This still is my favourite thing by them, ever. Breathtaking. The entire performance is amazing, but smother is so hauntingly beautiful.

Thanks for this video. Gonna listen it right away.
The concert in Ancienne Belgique (Brussels) is also sold out. Pity!
In 2013 my (ex)girlfriend gave me tickets for Sohn and Daughter as a present. Was she hinting at something?
Oh shit, so soon we'll be having Fredd-minis on Twoism! I have heard the Get Lucky cover before, I like it. Have yet to find something they made that I don't like.

Would be hard seeing I'm single now for a bit over five months. Still not over her. Might also be a reason why I'm revisiting Daughter's music now. Really grateful for their new album. It helps.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that mate, but I can really imagine listening to Daughter would help in a situation like that. When my gf broke it off with me, I started to really like Radiohead, it was all I would listen to (still a very, very big fan though). Time will heal everything eventually, and you'll find someone again. /endcliche (true though)
Bloody superb album! Takes a few listens before it 'opens up' but well worth the effort. Yeah a lot darker and denser than "If You Leave" but its a logical and very welcome progression.
After that debut they could so easily have chosen to go down the manipulative emo path for lucrative placements on American teen dramas etc, but if anything they've moved even further away from radio-friendly angst-lite and into, .......well into that strange and eerie place depicted on the cover.
I've seen them live twice now - October 2013 Shepherds Bush Empire and last week at Kentish Town Forum. Both brilliant (yet humble) performances, although I've always had issues with the sound of KT Forum - too much saturation and the bass doesn't kick the way it oughta!
