Skytree | Forest Family | Ambient album

Post by Skytree »

Hey Twoists, been while indeed - I'll post more when there's new BoC, I promise. For now I thought I'd offer some background on the banner currently on the top of the forum.

Robin (Aesthetics) generously offered to share my new ambient album Forest Family on the boards. We both suspected a lot of you might dig it. No ad placement involved, just a kind gesture from Robin - it's available for free if you need or donation if you wanna.

Forest Family is a 1.5 hour set of ambient pieces that tie together in a single environment. Part of the inspirational muse of the project was imagining extended drone landscapes on the same planet/in a similar dimension as BoC, while very much being their own thing.

A lot of hardware was used on this album, including novel synthesis techniques involving things like natural quartz crystal piezos, ionizing radiation from uranium, native copper antennae, and changing resistance from streams, soil and trees.

There are all sorts of other bits and birds as well, like stacks of field recordings, previously forgotten analog tapes, multi-band radio transmissions, guitar, flute and various textural memories. Hope you enjoy it and thank you for listening.

Greatly appreciate the support, Robin!

I've listened to it now. Wish I could give a more indepth review, but I don't know enough about music to do so.

All I can say is it was some great ambient, and was very nice during my walk outside in nature.

Apologies for being several years late in my response. I'm really glad to hear you enjoyed it, and thank you for relaying so. A long walk in nature is certainly one of my most preferred listening environments. Every project I release goes through at least a few rounds in this context before being finalized.
