Fuck yeah! Not only my favorite BoC album but my favorite album of all time. Taking any excuse I can get to listen to it haha. I really want to know how many times I've listened to it at this point, definitely in the 100s.

I also still love listening to the TCH EP inserted into the album tracklist, so Left Side Drive, Heard From, Skyliner, Coke Sign after Dayvan Cowboy. I then add Macquarie Ridge between Coke Sign and Moment of Clarity so there's no two back to back vignettes. Works incredibly well I think.

Also my GOAT album. In fact the whole post-Geogaddi era was peak for me. from 2004-2007 we got Dead Dogs Two remix, Broken Drum remix, TCH, TCH EP, Good Friday remix. The remixes especially I think are their finest work. I can't believe that TCH was lowkey their pariah album for a while. It aligns most closely with their aesthetic vision and production process, imo

It's also interesting in being a Warp album where the Japanese bonus track is essential. Macquarie Ridge is the official ending to me, adds so much. (Honorable mention of other albums like this is Exai)

Also hard agree!! Don't forget Mirror Lake remix also! (Or was that one 2003? Or was that the Dead Dogs Two single?) Either way some reason it always felt like proto-TCH, like the album cover minus the wear and color filter?

Second half of the album is still so good. There's a certain melancholy to it that i've also sort of picked up on from other albums from that era.

First BOC album I heard, swaps places with Geogaddi as my favourite. Controversial opinion - Into The Rainbow Vein is my favourite album opener of any artist. Just absolutely blasts me into a warm bittersweet nostalgic trance.

Best place to listen - the beach on a hot sunny day.

Missed this anniversary but I still listen to this album all the time. It still really hits and its the one I play for people who've never heard BoC (unless they have a similar "don't care about the genre, take me on a journey!" attitude to music as I do, then it's Geogaddi).

As close to a pop album as Boards of Canada have come, The Campfire Headphase lays aside the musical and numerical theories they played with on their last album, 2002's subliminal and abstract Geogaddi, in favour of further refining the tried and true sound of their legendary 1998 debut, Music Has the Right to Children.

Wow 20 years. Crazy.

I still remember listening to it the day it came out. I remember all the talk and excitement at the time was around the use of natural instruments - guitars, drums, not just synths. The bright guitar chords on Dayvan Cowboy, the crazy buzzing guitar and bass sound on Peacock Tail. Looking back now, I see it as just more evidence how each of their albums truly stands alone - each achieves a unique effect, and as a result, I can revisit each endlessly.

Constants are Changing is still one of my all-time favorite songs - it is pure BoC to me.

Probably the first of BoC's work that I was introduced to because of the Adult Swim bumps. It's a must play during the end of spring for me. I once put on Oscar See Through Red Eye while I was tripping on mushrooms and it was astounding.

Not my favorite album of theirs, but a really special one for me for sure.

I was surprised too, but a few remarks (BOC instagram):

- there are already 3 TCH related posts, Dayvan is one of the last (a few posts per album/EP)
- "Twoism" anniversary post, their "turning point record"
- previous anniversary posts on other medias were mostly reposts of tidbits
- there is no IABPOITC related post yet so maybe this could be next one

I also wanted to say YES to this. The way Campfire Headphase and Trans Canada Canada highway work together in harmony while having distinct, independent voices is next-level brilliance. On the LP, Dayvan Cowboy sounds earthy and grounded to me, and then on the EP it takes on this icy, high-altitude quality.

And it is also amazing to look back on how Odd Nosdam, Why?, and Doseone became some of my favorite artists ever. It feels good to know you're hearing things in a similar way.

it must have been insane to be a close-listening big fan and to go from Geogaddi to TCH.
what a pivot. that first listen. I envy that experience.
