Do not own any official BoC tapes. So I had to snag this. Thanks for the heads up.

Special inferno pricing. Get 'em while they're hot.

Pricey for a tape but this will no doubt be a collector's gem. I'm so glad I passed on the red vinyl last night. I didn't expect this to drop so soon.

I listen to my tapes more than any vinyl I own. With prices going up, I can't really justify vinyl anymore.

One less tape, thanks to me. I was really hesitating, weighing my greed vs curiosity vs joy. But I actually wrote on here somewhere that my two wishes-not predictions- for what could come out of the VHS mystery (remember not knowing?) were a flexi vinyl sent out in a nat'l geographic format art magazine (ok, not quite), and any official new music on a tape format. Had to do it. Too late to look back now. Press play!

Full solidarity to you, this is one of the unicorn releases where I snagged all 3 formats. I don't do that. The other time it happened was kind of a fluke. But this one is exceedingly special!

Out of curiosity for anyone who already received their tape, do you know what formulation the tapes are using (Type I Ferric, Type II Chrome, etc.) ?

Doesn't state. The only specification printed is the 1 7/8 IPS speed. I doubt it's anything out the ordinary, although looks great and mine was made in the UK.

YES! Woo! I get stuff on tape whenever I can, thanks so much for the heads up! I would have missed this completely otherwise.

I also try to release my own stuff on tape whenever I can. God bless Josh at Illuminated Paths for that.

Listening to my copy now, it's crazy how good this sounds. So glad I went with this over vinyl. Just not much of a fan of vinyl these days.

Based on my experience with releasing tapes, I'm guessing this was manufactured by BandCDs. They use type 1 as far as I know, but with a client like this the accessibility for options is probably unlimited.

After no tracking updates, it arrived today. Will WARP replace mine that arrived in a cracked to hell case? The cardboard case doesn't show damage but the whole thing was either beneath a lot of pinpoint weight or it was packaged cracked. I'll wait. Image

Man, this is getting me so excited to hear mine. First time with a BOC tape, hearing it "the way it was meant to be heard," lol :D

dude... your tape went through the Inferno itself. As disappointing and frustrating as I'm sure that is (I'm sorry, seriously) it's kind of a keepsake now.

I'd like to ask an honest question. I'm not judging, but I don't get the cassette thing. Not just BoC, but any band that releases on cassette. I grew up buying and listening to tapes, but once CDs became standard, I never looked back. I remember having a copy of Beastie Boys' Check Your Head and playing it so much it wore out, which IIRC, didn't take all that long to happen. I soon replaced it with a CD and I think I still have it somewhere. I get the appeal of vinyl, CD, digital files, but the cassette revival doesn't make sense to me.

Are cassettes purchased mostly as a piece of merch to collect, or do people really enjoy the format?

Some people really enjoy the format, it's really big in the ambient world, it just gives a pleasant sonic characteristic that many people get a kick out of due to it's nostalgic quality.

Also a pretty big fan of the tactile experience of it. Like, I don't NEED to have any of my music on any kind of physical media at all. The main thing I like about tapes is the physical experience of them. They way they look on the shelf, their size and form factor, the way it feels to handle them/load them into a player and mash the button down, the persistent inconvenience of having to seek tracks without skipping... there's something about it that puts me in a good place emotionally. Feels real. I'm sure it's all nostalgia-related or something!
