Aural geometry in geogaddi

Post by thaesafhma »

i don't know the proper terminology but has anyone else found that boc use the doppler effect with almost every melody in geogaddi? the overall impression being that you are hearing specific shapes, sometimes even numbers, being traced out.

i forget which track it was but i remember distinctly hearing the number 8 being traced out. i frequently hear circular shapes. and in corsair, the melody doesn't just fade out, it slowly moves in a very specific direction as it disappears over the horizon almost like a ship or something sailing away following the curve of the earth.

people most often say the music evokes colors but for me it evokes shapes. like the reverse of synathesia. i saw drones. i heard hexagons.

I don't see just colour or shapes...I see entire images...movies
Sometimes the music lets me do things, like with opening the mouth, before I knew what the track was called,I opened my mouth when I was in bed.Dangerous

HAHA

I think that you can see whatever you want to see. As long as you are on some sort of drug this is so true. But, even without any intoxication. I see shapes, colors, everything. Sometimes the entire song narrates my life; whatever I am actually doing at the time it is just a story of what I am doing. :o

for me listening to julie with candy in headphones is like hearing the infinity symbol go through your head (reference to your number 8)

Yay acid..but getting back to the point at hand....

I don't really see or feel shapes or numbers...not yet anyway. Moreso images

Idon't know if it's cause you planted the idea in my head, but I just stuck that track on after reading this and i totally see what you mean... It doesn't just fade, it seems to wrap in on itself

I think if anything it'll just be 2 cutoff filters working in opposite directions though

to be more specific, beyond the music merely evoking images and shapes relative to listener interpretation, they seem often to be, more than any other act i've heard, actually tracing out shapes, numbers, and even more complex actions and scenes especially within the confines of headphone space. it seems noticable even without the aid of acid.

rudimentarily (i'm no sound engineer), they put a noise in motion in 2 dimensional space eg up down left right diagonally ect ... then by varying volume subtley they put the noise in 3 dimensional space. thus they can effectively trace out any geometric figure, number or even signify actions and movements

I think Bibio also uses that technique.Even more clearly than BoC does (witch isn't neccesarely better).
