The new Saul Williams record
is to be produced by Trent Reznor apparently. Should be interesting.

What an interesting combo!...Who woulda thunk?! I'm a huge Saul Williams fan, although I haven't been keeping up recently. He is my favourite contemporary poet and one of my favourite rappers. I met him twice and he is a very genuine and humble person. To those who haven't heard of Saul check out the movie "Slam", and from there check out his latest, self-titled CD, and various books of poetry. His work is very enlightening, (if you"re into that kind of thing).
Thanks for the info Infinite E!

Yeah, Trent's been dinking around with him for a while now. He was opening up for NIN back on the With Teeth tour. I think I heard something by him one time but I cannot recall what it sounded like.wwbjd wrote:Evidently Saul Williams sings on "Me, I'm Not" from Year Zero (from the booklet that came with the CD).
I have no idea who Saul Williams is.

All I can I can say is if you haven't heard Saul Williams check him out right now! blend of hip-hop with really old-school slam poetry along the lines of Gil-Scott Heron or Last Poets, with great beats, intelligent imagery, socially conscious political lyrics, crazy references in the raps, pretty much everything I look for in a rapper... the type of stuff that appeals to everyone, not just hip-hop fans.
TBH, I'm slightly confused by this move... he certainly isn't the first person I would have associated with trent or NIN... but I just checked his myspace and he has a fews tracks from what I presume is the new album, and I guess it makes sense to listen to... dunno... I was never a big NIN fan. Will have to check back when I am in the right mindstate for this stuff
