Xentrix project

hey all. first post

i'm working on an animated version of The Story of Xentrix for class. just a small visual aid running next to the track, so it's only a minute long. i considered rotoscoping (same process as waking life & scanner darkly) the story with a boy and a dog, and drawing in the forest and cave myself.

but i'm running out of time and this is due in about 4-5 days. so, i'm thinking of doing something simpler. my backup idea was to make it look like a golden book, in sort of a mary blair style of drawing. any thoughts or ideas?

also, i was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this story to begin with. like all things boc, it feels like it has a familiar vibe. i haven't been able to find any info on it, other than the Warp mix cd it was released on.

in the past few days, i developed a small theory that xentrix might be related to Davey & Goliath in some way. it seems possible since this cartoon appeared sometime in the 60s-70s, so there's a good chance that the sandison brothers watched it and were maybe fans, especially since davey & goliath was a christian cartoon, and there are obvious religious references in boc's music. i tried searching for davey & goliath videos too, and found that the first episode ever created was called "lost in a cave" (!). i wasn't able to watch it though. i only saw it listed on a small site with no summary.

hey, welcome to the forums. Can't really offer any help on the Xentrix story, but that sounds like a cool project. Pity you don't have time to rotoscope it, as rotoscoping is cool.

There seems to be a semi-famous metal band from the 80's named Xentrix, but I guess they got the name from some old sci-fi series or something.

That's funny that you should mention that Davey and Goliath episode, Lost In A Cave. I just watched that on Saturday morning. I don't think Xentrix had anything to do with the D&G series which was produced by Art Clokey of Gumby fame.

oh man i totally thought about doing a comic to this story. ive read through pretty much all there is on the BOC pages and im still not really sure about this tune. its creepy and amazing. id say you should take it as inspiration and just run with it. do whatever you want man.
