Favorite WTF? Track..

Post by meat like product »

I was listening to Geogaddi in my car today and when I cranked up after work Gyroscope was just beginning.. I spiraling down the parking garage with my windows opened and was just imagining what people were thinking of the music I was listening to.. As all of you may know Gyroscope is nuts but it's so effing good. I was wondering what are some of your favorite tracks that you would never use to introduce someone to BoC because you know they would be like "what the f**k??"

And I'm talking about the "real" tracks. Nothing like A is to B.. or Niagara.. stuff that obviously only we can appreciate.

House Of Abin'adab.

Real enough. I can appreciate it, anyway.

oh my girlfriend loved Color Of Fire...I think it was the first BOC track she ever heard, she closed her eyes and just went along with it. She also loved You Could Feel The Sky, I never saw that coming, thought it was a bit too dark and ritualistic but she loved it!.
Her music taste is Massive Attack, Tool, Air, Radiohead and stuff like that...
Its really hard to say what people will like, but I wouldn't play some of the stuff from Boc Maxima and most of the crappy Old Tunes just because I really dont think its up to their high standard (I think it would turn her off).

The Devil is in the Details for sure. When that kids voice comes in especially.

A big one is "ORANGE" in Aquarius. I get a lot of "wtf, orange?" from my roommates and friends.

That and the random "yellow" in alpha and omega.

I always seem to play the weirder songs for new listeners for some reason. Everytime I start liking new music or a new band, usually the strange songs are the ones that interest me, and then I go back and listen to the rest of their music. Something like Roygbiv, although an amazing song, I find requires more listens to take it all in, even though it is a lot less "weird".

OT1 track A4! It sure suprised me when I heard it, they've never done anything like it. I'm thinking the warbly, distorted effect is deliberate, or perhaps it's just a really old track.

I find it funny how often The Color Of The Fire is considered disturbing to some people. To me, that is a prime example of the archetypal BOC sound. Oh well...

I agree, but when starting MHTRTC for the first time not knowing that to expect (was my first BoC exposure), the warped kid's voice and especially the fact all it was doing was repeating 'i love you' sort of threw me off a little bit.

i had a funny experience with the color of fire recently...i was sitting on a draw bridge during traffic that was letting a boat through (so it was a long wait)..in the lane next to me was a very hot looking guy (i'm a girl btw) our car windows were both open.I was only half paying attention as i was also on the phone..but i noticed he kept looking over at me and i was thinking to myself 'yeah, allright, he's checking me out'..an eagle in your mind was playing in the CD loud enough for him to hear clearly... so as i'm talking i didn't even realize when the color of fire had come on just chatting away..i look over and the guy is now giving me the weirdest looks. He then rolls his windows all the way up and inches closer to the car in front of him as if to get away from me...ahahaha

About a week before this i was at the beach house with my family..i had my ipod hooked up to the stereo and just put it on shuffle..i was just chilling reading a book..my aunt comes over to me and says "there's something wrong with the ipod, it's just got some weird static with radio interference coming out of it can you fix it?" i walked over and it was playing the old nosdam remix of dayvan cowboy..i told her "that's not static that's the song"...she said "well that's the worst song ive ever heard can you change it?"

and yeah telephasic workshop.. i played this for a few friends who i thought would like it..they were into it until the chopped up voices and then were like 'what the fuck is that? how do you even know what they are saying? they could be telling you to go out and kill people." good times :D

aquanet, those are wonderfully typical stories! I love it!

Some people out there just don't get it.
