New Redpoint album - out now!

Post by AndyRedpoint »

Mornin' all.

Just a quick note to say that Redpoint's second album, Nostalgia For Now, is now available to buy and download from the microsite here.

Go on. Go get one. It's only a fiver and the cash will go to a worthy cause: that is, us. :)
We need a few bits and pieces of hardware and overpriced software to help us carry on making music.

Your pennies will also go towards the production of a limited-edition real-world CD version.

So please buy, play, tag any tracks you really love on last.fm and tell other people you think will like it.

:D

Totally awesome!!

Great artwork/microsite. This thing you have here totally boosts the peacefull atmosphere which I already felt about Redpoint.

Any chance to buy a lossless version?

CD to come. Definitely.

Aesthetics - what's your ideal format for lossless? I'll see what we can do for you.

Thanks for the support. :)

Doesn't really matter Ian. I'll use it for listening pleasure and perhaps to encode it to V0 mp3. I try to avoid 320kbps, it's large and I don't hear any difference with V0 mp3's.

I'm currently downloading the album, can't wait to hear it!

V0 mp3? What bitrate is that? Just curious as it's not something I've come across before.

Should have a FLAC link added to the download page soon. I've uploaded the files but need Andy to update the page.

We'll have the CD sorted soon anyway. :)

v0 is vbr and is an different name for the lame mp3 encoding: "--alt preset extreme"

It's the best mp3 encoding to have!

PS: flac is the best option for lossless indeed!

Ah. Thanks for clearing that up. Knew I should have stuck to my VBR preference after all. :)

Holy hell this record is gorgeous! Really chilled out but with loads of textures to keep you coming back for more. It gives that distinct emotive, nostalic feeling of Boards of Canada, but doesn't directly sound like Boards of Canada, which is a rare talent to have indeed. Keep up the awesome work, and if you ever want to release anything on Retronym. be it a remix or whatever, just give me a shout! Oh the artwork is amazing also!

Although the beatstructures and such are good as always, I still need to get used to all the vocal samples in this release. It's much more than in Protect and Survive...

Yeah, that's Andy's influence. We think of them as being like the snatches of conversation that pepper 'Dark Side Of The Moon'. :)

I have to bump this thread.

You guys - seriously - this pretty much makes up for the lack of any new BoC.
The first track alone was worth the purchase, and there is a lot more to like about this album.
