Re: best BoC release
I have to disagree, I think that's their least interesting release. IABPOITC is a great track though, it's just that the other three tend to go on and on without much development.phineas wrote:without a doubt for me in a beautiful place... is my favorite

To each his own though

Yeah, I'd agree with that. It feels like their most distilled, totally complete moment.phineas wrote:without a doubt for me in a beautiful place... is my favorite

see, i think that IABPOITC and Kid for Today are two of my favorite songs. It's not that zoetrope and amo bishop roden are bad, i just think they're kinda dull. But for me it's a tough call between geogaddi and MHTRTC. they're both masterpieces, but i think i'd have to go with MHTRTC. it's such a classic album. and one of the first electronic albums that i had ever really gotten into. so may classic songs on it too. perfect balance of melody and mystery.

WHAT!!!!! Beach at redpoint is my fav on Geo!
Love the way '1969;, 'Energy Warning', 'Beach at Redpoint' and 'Opening the Mouth' are all together.
Those 4 tracks could be a EP!!!
Seems perfect to me...

Everything before Geogaddi just seems like a collection of works gathered over time. Music for example, parts of it obviously go together well (tracks 1-2, tracks 9-10 for ex). But everything else feels more like a bunch of singles put together.
That isn't a negative thing at all, it's just that when I force myself to pick a best release Geogaddi is tough to beat. As a whole everything on it fits together very well. It's one of those albums that benefits more from being listened to beginning to end in one go. Where as most of their other releases you can play just the tracks you like and be fine(with the exception of Trans Canada).

Headphase and the Trans Canada EP hold the most sentimental value to me, because it's basically the only thing we listened to on our honeymoon (Mexican radio sucks).
but, Geo is my favorite album by far, with IABPOITC coming a close second.
