Interesting subject. I'm kinda glad someone brought it up, come to think of it.
I don't consider myself any particular orientation, but I've been attracted to guys and girls. I'm currently in love with a man. The reason I don't consider myself any orientation is that orientations usually serve the purpose of letting other people know what you can be reliably expected to go for - either that you can be depended upon to go for women, depended upon to go for men, or depended upon to go for both. I can't be depended upon to do anything. I calls it like I sees it. Mainly I find peoples' personalities attractive more than their bodies, so that makes it easier to find attraction in either gender. However, I'm not attracted to hardly anyone, even just a little bit, in daily life, so it's almost as if I just have no sex drive. I do, actually, but I don't desire to get physically sexual with anyone. Huh? I know, right?
Closest thing I can compare it to is, you know how you have an appetite, and you get hungry, and your mouth waters, and then that culminates in a desire to physically go acquire food and eat it? I have an appetite, I get hungry, my mouth waters, but I never actually desire to go get and eat the food. The rest of it is fine with me on its own. It's like someone who likes water slides, finds them interesting and loves to talk about them and visit water parks with people and all that jazz, they get to the top of the slide and go "man, this is where it's at". Then someone asks, "...don't you wanna slide down now?" and they go "nah, not really. But man are these ever cool. Good times." and then climbs back down, totally satisfied.

Well i'm out as a gay man since i was 16, now i'm 28, but to be honest i'm more bi for the past few years.
I find here (dublin), a lot of gay guys are very hung up on bi guys, its like the gay guy is the homophobic str8 guy to bi guy's if you get me lol. Suffice to say, i keep my bi'ness to myself.
Havent really met many gay/bi guys into boc or any of this type of music, just the odd diamond in the ruff.

one of my best friends is a lot like this. people would ask "is noah gay or straight?" to which we respond, "he's just uninterested."turquoise70 wrote:Interesting subject. I'm kinda glad someone brought it up, come to think of it.

i've also heard bradford cox say the exact same thing about himself in interviews as well.
i can relate in that i never go out just looking to get laid. that just has no appeal to me. i would probably be extremely uncomfortable the whole time. i'm definitely interested in finding a girl though. one who i can be completely 100% comfortable around. but random one night stands hold no appeal to me. thus i havent had sex in a painfully long time.

I kind of experience the opposite of turquoise70; I do feel physically attracted (to women), but I don't really have an interest in starting a relationship with any of them. I have no interest in spending too much time with a woman, in a romantic context. I simply don't see the point. I would say I prefer to be 90% of my life completely alone in my house, the other 10% I reserve for maintaining (close and select) friendships (mostly males). Any other "einzelgängers" in this respect? (somewhat offtopic, I know).

my boyfriend and I have been together for almost 10 months now. I love him, very much.

Interesting topic. Turquoise70, very interesting post for sure. I can also identify with not wanting to be labelled. I went through my share of confusion and doubt, as many do. This is it for me.

if you are reading this you are spending too much time at your computer. go outside and get some fresh air.
I am a little surprised that so many of you have admitted to be not straight in the short course of this topic, although my reaction may not be completely rational and logic as this is a topic is for gay people so gay people will react. As soon as I meet someone, in real life or on the internet, there's a huge assumption on my side that he or she is "straight", as far as labels are sufficient to describe someones complex preferences and passions in life, as turquoise pointed out. Life may not be as static and two-sided as I as a person with average expectations in this respect predict about their friends and environment.

You guys look adorable together! And such a beautiful scene, is that Cape Town? You make me want to visit South Africa so bad. I wish it weren't so far away. Jeeze, the guy I love lives in Connecticut and even that seems too far...s7409651 wrote:

I'm gay, but I had a really rough time coming to terms with it. I was in a mental hospital a couple of times because of depression, but it was mainly caused by repressed emotions. I came out to my parents when I was 15.
Ironically, I'm also trying to be a Christian... But I'm totally against all of the conversion therapy BS. It's hard because my understanding of it is that god loves the repressed, downtrodden rejected people of society, but Christians don't follow that. They'd rather cling to their old laws and judgments than live out the life of Christ and love all people.
So I go to a gay group and try to tell them about spirituality and they don't want to hear it, and I go to a group of Christians and try to tell them how accepting myself for who I am has helped me and they don't want to hear it. And the fight goes on.
But yeah there's my experience with it.

not all Christians are so close-minded. look into the Episcopalian church. they're open to homosexuality.rick7487 wrote:I'm gay, but I had a really rough time coming to terms with it. Yeah, I unfortunately know exactly what you mean. I've encountered feelings like bi people are traitors or something. There are close-minded people everywhere. I'm gay and have been with a great bi guy. I actually met him through my friendship with his ex-wife. They're now back together.I find here (dublin), a lot of gay guys are very hung up on bi guys, its like the gay guy is the homophobic str8 guy to bi guy's if you get me lol. rick7487, I'm sorry to hear about the shit you've had to deal with. You might already know about these guys, but if not you may be interested in Soulforce. http://www.soulforce.org/ They're a social justice group for religious gay/bi/trans etc. people.

Mah special lady is bisexual and she tells me very similar things. Tbh this surprised me, I've never openly identified as anything so people tend to assume I'm straight, which i guess shelters you from that kinda stuff. Who knows though, I've fancied boys before, it never even really felt like a big deal to me. I listen to folk music and jungle too, do I have to base my identity off that now?Korona 1969 wrote:Yeah, I unfortunately know exactly what you mean. Congratulations there fella!Cupz wrote:I am straight as a ruler, getting married soon, but I did have some erotic thoughts about Cole (turqoise70).
Other than that, I find the male body totally disgusting (even my own). I can't even watch porn if there's a man involved. Just lesbian action for me
