The Osprey Signal - Ocean Drains

Post by Beacon »

I just posted a little video for a tune that I made for an album I'm working on called "Woodrunners". You can listen/see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=We4NdhS8Ggs

Comments and criticism appreciated. I'm not really a video person. I'm mostly looking for comments on the song.

Thanks.

What a beautiful song! I love how it subtly morphs back and forth to different sounds. And then at 3:19 it just hits you and takes off. I really enjoyed that.

Is it possibly up for download? I'd love to have it on my mp3 player.

Thanks! I really appreciate those comments. This is a track that will most likely be on an upcoming album, and will officially be released in downloadable form then. I still need to master it. You might have noticed that the volume is pretty low in the first segment. But, since you are a nice Twoismer, I'll PM you the current mp3 when I get home from work.

Thats a lovely track mate, i'm most fond of the intro section. Great work and great atmosphere.
The ominous video is also realy well matched for this track, they realy compliment each other.
The synths are spot on as well.

I hope you wont mind if I point out something that I noticed when listening.
The drum loop that comes in at 3:18 seems to be set to loop just a moment too long, so that every time it repeats there is a little delay before it restarts. In my opinion it could be tweeked a little to loop better, by pulling back the loop end. I hope that makes sence. But im curious if anyone else thinks that?

I hope you post more stuff soon :)

Thanks man. I'm really glad you listened closely enough to notice that and cared enough to point it out. I took a look and it did seem like the loop end/beginning was a bit off. After hearing it a million times it was a bit hard to convince my ear of that though, haha. Anyways, I adjusted it a bit and uploaded another version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=We4NdhS8Ggs (original link has been edited too). Hopefully it's at least slightly better timed.

Some background on the song/video: The first part of the video was taken by a place called the Ocean Sciences Centre (also called the Marine Lab) near where I live. The first part of the song was also very much inspired by the area around this place. There are some neat cliffs and the building has a really interesting design. There are also large water tanks, lots of pipes, and some weird decaying concrete structures that aren't really used for anything. Those television screens are used for watching seals in a tank to the left of them.

Lovely track! Agree that the visuals really compliment the music, very warm and alluring stuff. : )

Sounds awesome. I'd like to hear the full album.

It does strike me as very oceanic, or submarine.
