Phenoplastic : Radians : free download : CD now available

Hello folks.

The new 2011 album from Phenoplastic is coming up, called "Radians".

How should I describe it? The album is more diverse than previous releases, with a darkness at it's heart, lots of heavy beats, psychedelic flights of fancy and plenty of ambient moments. A lot of effort has gone into the production / mixing side too.

...many of you have been supportive of my stuff in the past and I'm so grateful for your feedback - I hope you'll like this too, and those unfamiliar I urge you to try it out.

It sounds so machine organic (if that makes sense).

What kind of kit are you using (of course feel free to ignore that geeky question)

Hey Nev

I'm glad you like it, and glad to talk about what I do. I use logic, a ton of plugins / instruments. (and occasional use of my limited guitar & vocal skills) Nearly half of the tracks on "radians" were developed from unheard tracks I did in 1995, which may explain the 'organic' feel you mention coming from sampling these sounds from tapes.

I really pushed myself to work a lot more creatively / thoroughly on the mixing than previously, and am trying to increase the range of techniques I use processing sounds in Logic.

Something I'm looking at doing more is using found sounds - the percussion on 'Frayed and Yellowed' from 'liquid condition' is made entirely from recording all kinds of objects I found lying around at home.
