Funnily enough, I'm about to. Girl at work brought in a box full of unused C90s that I snaffled. Sadly I'd forgotten that I'd sold the last cassette recorder in the house and I now have to scour eBay for a ratty old ghettoblaster.... arse.

Question: Are some tape recorders more analog than others?
Perhaps it's a silly question.

I guess it would,i use a very old Sony player, and i just love the hiss and some crackle,it really makes the tracks sound even more nostalgic ;')

All cassette players are equaly analogue for the most part. But the way it records and reproduces sound can be vastly different, depending on the way that sound is amplified. The age of a machine can change the accuracy, noise level, and tape speed to a great degree. So in a sence they can each have a very different sound. Old tape players more oftain will add in colours to the sound and drifting pitches that i personaly love. Even the tape used has a big impact on the final sound due to stretching, and changes in the magnetic density of the tape.

Cool project, if I had a walk man or something I would definately do this too.

I don't want any money for these, but give me a week or so,as i have another batch of tapes coming and will be doing this mid week, also note not all tracks will fit,you get 45 minutes each side, you choose the album and i record 45 minutes of each.

Yes,but if i got alot of people asking then i couldn't,so far your the 3rd lol, just send me a message asking for the albums you want on each side, like i said 45 minutes each side,i wont do individual tracks,as this will take up too much of my time, and that's the price you pay for getting these 'FREE' ;')

i'm not fussy man, whatever is easiest for you to be honest. if its easier for you to copy a selection by one of the other two people then by all means do that!

i did this a while ago with all the old tunes stuff. definitely works better this way.

i also put geogaddi on tape a while back and left it out in the sun for months to try and warp it, but surprisingly, not much happened!

what about soaking it in water, then freezing it. Once its dried off, it should have small stretches in the tape. Hmm, and perhaps you could leave it near something with a strong magnetic field, like an open speaker.

Guidos microwave idea sounds good too, just watch out for the sparks that will come off the metal parts of the tape.
